Mr and Mrs. Chester Moncrief and Mr. and Mrs. C. Richard Ward of Atlanta, Ga., flew In Sunday In Mr. Ward's private plane and spent the day with Mrs. Ward's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Copeland and son. Alex, spent the weekend in Raleigh, Thomasville and Win ston-Salem and attended the grad uation of their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gary Copeland, from Wake Forest College. Lt. and Mrs. James A. Piner left over the weekend for Mission, Tex., where Lieutenant Piner will be st? tioned with the Air Force. Mrs. W. J. Ipock, Mrs. Billy Ipock and son. Jay, left Wednes day for West Palm Beach, Fla., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. John ston Jr. Johnny Lynch will return to Duke University, Durham, Tues day to complete his studies. He will graduate in August. Mr. and Mrs. O. Holland, Falls Church, Va., are spending this week with Mrs. Holland's mother and sister, Mrs. J. J. Davis and Mrs. Ruby Holland of Smyrna. Sgt. and Mrs. Frank S. Daniels and daughters, F r a n k i e and Yvonne, of Fort Bragg, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Bland of Bettie. They also visited his parents, Mr. qnd Mrs. Arlie Daniels, at Cedar Island. Mrs. D. E. Lupton and son of Gales Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Cannon and three sons of Broad Creek, Mr. and Mrs. James Rose and two sons of Harkers Island and Mr. William Bland of Norfolk, Va., spent the weekend with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Bland, and their brother, Johnny, at Bet tie. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Crowe have as their guests their daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Smith of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Crowe's sister and brother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fraden burg of Manila, Ark. Mrs. Edna Heslep has returned home after spending some time in Winston-Salem. Mr. Larry Moore of Winston Salem spent the weekend here with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. W. Moore. Miss Cathryn Potter has arrived home from St. Mary'; College, Ra leigh, and is spending the supiqgr at home. Mrs. J. C. Neal returned home Wednesday from Tampa, Fla., where she has been with her son for some time. Mr. Nathan St. Amond of Gaff ney, S. C., is the guest of Mr. Hen ry Safrit. Miss Peggy Williams left Wed nesday to attend summer school at Chapel Hill. Miss Jane Safrit and Bobby Sa frit arrived yesterday from Athens, Ga., where they have been attend ing the University of Georgia. Gray Simpson, Butch Haisell, Pud Hastell, Dave Ward, Eddie Taylor and Ray Glover are attend ing a basketball camp at Bute* Creek. Mr. and Mr?. T. T. Potter will leave today for AsheviUe, to attend the Grapd Lodge meeting of the Eastern Star. Mrs. John Steed returned Sun day after visiting Mrs. I. ftl. Baker in Norfojk, Va. Mrs. C. H. Cashwell and daugh ter, Catherine, of Clinton are viait ing Mr. and Mrs. Gehrmann Hol land. Mrs. Ralph Eudy, Mrs. Gilbert Potter and Mrs. Jamea Potter III are spepdjng this week in Char lotte. Mr. Brown returned to Arlington Tuesday, but Mrs. Brown remained for a longer visit. Mrs. Wiley Lewis and son, Wiley Howard, left Wednesday for Port Monmouth, N. J., to spend several months. Mrs. Nora Gilbert, Miss Ola Dud ley and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Dean spent Tuesday in New Bern. Jackie Wheatley, Douglas Ptner and Sammy Merrill will leave Sun day to attend Boy's State at Cha pel Hill. Mr. and Mrs. William Dixon have returned home from Virginia, where they visited Mrs. Robert Pittman at Portsmouth and Mrs. Dixon's son. William Everett Con gleton, at Norfolk. Mrs. Vic Bellamah and children, Theresa, Joe and Mary Elizabeth, left yesterday by plane for De troit. Mich. They will visit there and in Niagara Falls and Buffalo. N. V., for three weeks before re turning home. Mr. James Smith, Mr. Robert Verlander and Miss Anita Cope land spent last weekend as guests of Miss Sara Yost at Weaverville. Miss Yost returned with them as far as Greenville, where she and Miss Copeland entered summer school. Miss Verna Jean Rabon Honored at Tea Mrs. David Hill entertained at a tea Wednesday afternoon at her home honoring Miss Verna Jean Rabon of Morehead City, who will marry Dwight Stewart Hill on June 21. A pink motif was carried out in the decorations. Miss Rabon, Mrs. S. J. Rabon and Mrs. R. Hugh Hill received corsages of pink carnations. JJie living room mantel held an arrangement of magnolia leaves and capdelabra holding pink can Arrangements of daisies, asiers, sweetpeas and feverfew were used in the rooms. The bride's table was covered with a handmade linen cloth and centered with an arrangement of pink roses and feverfew in a sil ver bowl flanked with lighted pink tapers. Guests were greeted by Mra. Hill and introduced to the honoree, her mother, and the mother of her fiance. Mrs. James Wheatley in vited guests into the dining room. Mrs. Norwood Young served cake and Mrs. Gerald Hill poured punch. Open face sandwiches, heavenly bits, cheese biscuits, nuts and mints were also served. Goodbyes were said to Mrs. Hill. Receives Master's Howard C. Fodrie. son of Mrs. S. finowden Thompson, and the late Hubert L. Fodrie, received his master's degree in business administration Monday at the University of North Carolina. Mr. Fodrie received his bache lor of sciencc degree in business administration in 1057 at Wake Forest College. He has accepted a position with Fieldcrest Mills, Leaksville, N. C. Receives Cap Miss Sandra Salter of Atlantic, < completed the pre clinical period 1 in Watts Hospital School of Nurs- ' ing, Durham, and received her i school <*ap in exercises Sunday at the Trinity Methodist Church in j Durham. Mrs. Wheatley Entertains Tuesday Afternoon Club Mrs. James R. Wheatley was hostess to the Tuesday afternoon bridge club at her home this week. Guests were Mrs. Calvin Jones and Mrs. N. F. Eure. Needy Family to Receive Help from Rebekahs The Miriam Rebekah Lodge met Monday night at the lodge hall ind heard a report by Mrs. Her bert Whitehurst on the grand lodge meeting, held recently in Wilming ton. It was decided to give help to i needy family. Anyone, whether members of the lodge or not, wish ing to contribute food, money or ather items may take them to Mrs. Whitehurst at Bell's Drug Store or the lodge on Turner Street next Monday night. Miss Elizabeth Lambeth is the new secretary and Mrs. W. A. Mace Jr. is the treas urer. Mr. Harry Saunders will con tinue as director. Nine tables of bridge were in play. North-south winners were Mrs. W. A. Mace Jr. and Mrs. J. S. Steed. Second went to Mr. Jack Windley and Mr. S. K.
