Methodists Will Convene Monday for Conference The Norm Carolina annual Meth odist conference will convene in Firat Methodist Church, Wilson, at 1:30 p.m., Monday and continue through noon Thursday, June 26. This annual gathering with one thousand delegates will be the cen ter of interest for Methodist peo ple throughout Eastern North Caro lina for the four-day period, ttiahop Paul Neff Gerber of Rich mond, Vi., president of the confer ence. will preside it ill sessions except where he delegites others for thit purpose. Representing First Methodist Church, Moreheid City, will be the Rev. J. F. Her bert. pastor, ind Jimes B. Webb, liy delegate. Reserve liy delegate is Thomis L. Noe. CO., N.V.C. b upon plana to build two Methodist colleges in Eastern North Carolina. This undertaking to build two col leges at the same time is without parallel in Methodism anywhere. The colleges will be built at Rocky Mount and Fayetteville. These two cities and surrounding areaa have provided large and beautiful tracts of land and each haa provided two million dollars to help get the colleges started. It is planned that on a conference-wide basis five million dollars will be raised by Methodist people of East ern North Carolina to help the two institutions get on their feet. Boards of trustees have been at work for many months laying the ground work for buildings and scholaatic requirements. First Methodist Church, More head City, undertakes substantial financial obligations to the Meth odist Conference. These obligations the church is accuatomed to meet ing in full. Members of the church are asked to rally at this time to the need of meeting all obligations by paying in full any balance due on their pledges. Additional gifts will be wel comed. Sound View Auxiliary Takas Hay Rid* Saturday Members of the Sound View Go Tell Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Torine Henderson Saturday. After we all got there, we went on a hay ride. Baptists Conduct Vacation School The Vacation Bible School of the Atlantic Baptist Church (at under way with registration itarting at the church May 11. This was (al lowed by a parade and picnic. On Monday, June 2, the classes started. The principal, Mrs. De lores Rose, reported s successful school. The enrollment was 110 and the average daily attendance 103. The faculty conairted of 22 members. The school was in ses sion each day from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday was Commitment Day. On that day special emphasis was placed on committing of life to Christ. The commencement program waa given in the church audi torium Friday night. After the pro gram, the children's handwork was on display in the educational build ing. GTA's of First FWB Church Meet Monday The GTA's of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Morehead City met Monday afternoon. The meet ing was called to order by the president, Sandra McElmon. The song, Sunlight. Sunlight, was sung. Carolyn Bullard led in prayer. We had our business session. Nine answered roll call. It was voted to change the time of our meeting from 2 to 6:30. We then had our program. The title was Jesus the Hock. Taking part were Connie Buck, Vickie Lewis and Bruce Dudley. We sang The Solid Rock and were dismissed by Carolyn Bullard. ?
