10:00 A.M., July 14th, 1958, (be

in the Town of Newport. The pur
pose of the sale will be the collec
tion of delinquent taxes of the
Town of Newport, for the year
1957, and prior years. The name
of each taxpayer owing taxes, the
amount of taxes due, and a brief
description of the real property
upon which said taxes are a lien
appear below. The sale will be
made subject to increased amounts
for penalties and costs.

A family reunion was held at the
recreation hall of the Mormon
Church Wednesday night for the
Lewis sisters. All were present. It
ended with a farewell party spon
sored by Mr. Earl C. Davis who
honored his daughter, Mrs. Bertha
Jay Porter, of Mason, Ariz. She
was to leave with her husband, Mr.
Kenneth Porter and three children
and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Owen
Porter also of Mason, Ariz., Thurs
day morning. They have been vis
iting here for the past month.
Mr. Richie of Greensboro was
guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Stacy Guthrie this past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Guthrie and
two daughters, Carita and Rosita,
returned here Sunday from Cape
Lookout.

60 Children
Enroll in School
Sixty children were enrolled in
the recent session of Vacation Bible
School at Marshallberg Baptist
Church. Average daily attendance
was 52, reports the Rev. J. C.
Buchanan Jr., pastor of the church.
The last day of the school was
Commitment Day. On that day six
committed their lives to Christ.
Following commencement the per
sons who attended viewed the chil
dren's handwork.
The Women's Missionary Union
of Marshallberg Baptist Church
met recently at the home of Mrs.
lulia Lewis for a study course,
God's World Plan.
The course was taught by Mrs.
Gladys Thomas and Miss Edith
Lewis. Supper was served to the

Master's Men
To Meet Tonight
Mount Pleasant Free Will Bap
tist Church at Mill Creek will be
host church for a district meeting
of the Master's Men at 7:30 to
night.
The program will open with a
hymn of praise sung by chorister
A1 McElmon. The Rev. Noah
Brown, Morehead City, will give
the devotions. The Rev. W. A.
Hales, Beaufort, will speak on
what the Master's Men mean to
me as a pastor.
The Rev. Seldon Bullard, More
head City, will discuss what the
Master's Men can do for the Free
Will Baptist denomination. A busi
ness session, singing and testi
monies will conclude the program.

The pie and cake sale sponsored
by the volunteer fire department
Saturday night was a success.
About 40 pies and two cakes were
donated and nearly fifty dollars
was realized from the sale.
Mrs. Willard Bennett and chil
dren left Friday, returning to their
home in Baltimore, Md., after
spending a week here wtih her
sister, Mrs. Angeline Wolfe.

Ocracoke Plans
For Big Holiday
The annual July Fourth celebra
tion at Ocracoke is being planned.
Interested persons are working on
entertainment for the many rela
tives and friends who always
"come home" for the holidays and
this year, from all indications, ho
tels and cottages will be filled with
visiting tourists.
On Friday, July 4, there will be
pony penning at about 9 to 9:30
a.m. At 11 a.m. there will be the
annual Flag Raising Service at the
schoolhouse, after which the wo
men of the Methodist Church will
sponsor a big dinner. The dinner
will be served in the school library
and adjoining classrooms from
11:30 to 1 p.m.
