Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wheatley awl family of Charlotte are visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. a Wheatley. Mrs. Paul Davidson. Mrs. Ed Potter ?nd Mrs. Carl Hatsell drove to Washington Tuesday to take Miss Elaine Hatsell and Miss Co rione Davidson to Camp Leach, where they will spend two weeks. Miss Jane Safrit visited at Top sail Beach several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Albert McCauley and three children of Mt. Gilead spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith, Mrs. Frank Wall of Raleigh and Miss Nellie Smith of Bachelor vis ited here last week. Mrs. George Eastman and son, Joe, are visiting her mother, Mrs. Hedrick, in Taylorsville. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Potter spent Saturday in Saratoga, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. George Korn, Sta ten Island, returned Wednesday after spending ten days at the In let Inn. The Korns are buying a home in Beaufort and plan to live here after retirement. Dr. and Mrs. Charles L. Baskin left Monday, after spending four days here. They returned to their home in Raleigh. Lt. and Mrs. R. H. Chadwick, Bruce and Hunter Chadwick, all of Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Baker Jr. of Norfolk, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bloodgood of Charlotte will arrive over the weekend to spend next week with Mr. and Mrs. Gehrmann Holland. Miss Nancy Russell will go to Winston-Salem Monday and bring back Mrs. Gene Barnbardt and children, who will visit her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Bell. Miss Frances Bell, who has been visiting the Barnhardts, will re turn home also. The Rev. and 4irs Robert - If. Poulk and children will arrive Sun day to visit her mother, Mrs. N. F. Eure. Mr. Poulk will return to Goldsboro Sunday evening, but Mrs. Poulk and the children will remain here a week. Mr. James Steed is spending some time in Wilson on business. While he is there Mrs. Steed and (heir children are visiting her mo ther, Mrs. Raymond Gaylor, in Ayden. Mrs. Bessie Nicholson and Mrs. Margaret Clark of Clarkton visited their daughter and sister, Mrs. James Rumley, Tuesday. Mrs. Nicholson will remain here for a visit while Mrs. Clark is tway on a trip to the west coast. Nichols Jr. j Miss Mary Ellen Chastecn of Straits became the bride of Wil liam Henry Nichols Jr. of More head City in a ceremony Friday afternoon at one thirty in the Straits Methodist Church. The Rev. D. M. Tyson officiated at the single ring ceremony. Mrs. A1 Hubbard of Gloucester, pianist and soloist, presented a program of nuptial music prior to the cere mony. She sang Because and The Lord's Prayer. The church was decorated with pink and white gladiolas and zin nias. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Fate Chad wick of Straits. She wore a ballerina length gown of french lace and net over taffeta. The bodice of lace featured a round neckline sprinkled with seed pearls and long sleeves ending in points over the hands. Jhe bouf fant skirt was of net over taffeta. She wore a fingertip veil of tulle attached to a princess . tiara oi rhinestones and carried -? cascade bouquet of yellow roaes, net and ribbons. Mrs. Fate Chadwick w;y? matron of honor and the bride's only at tendant. She wore a pink cotton chiffon dress with matching ac cessories and a corsago of pink carnations. Mr. Ralph Edwards Nichols of I Morehead City, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. A reception was held in the edu cational building of Camp Glenn Methodist Church, Morehead City, at three o'clock. Mrs. W. H. Allen re turned home Sunday evening but Mrs. Willis stopped in Raleigh, where she will visit her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Harrell. Mr?. Trent Receives $100 Scholarship at ECC Mrs. Mack Trent of Greenville, the former Judy Johnson of Beau fort, has received a 1100 scholar ship at East Carolina College. Sev eral scholarships of this type are given to deserving students at the college, who are chosen by a com mittee. Mrs. Trent is th? daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Johnson. She is a graduate of Beaufort High School, where she was a member of Tri-Hi-Y and president of the prayer group. She attended Camp bell College for one year and was turned to the dean's liat there. Miss Barbara Nichols, sister of the bridegroom, presided at the bride's book. Mrs. Art Taylor poured punch and Mrs. John Tay lor served cake. The grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Alice Chad wick, wore a pink dress with navy^accessorirs and a corsage of white carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy suit with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Following their return from a wedding trip, the couple are mak ing their home at Camp Glenn. The bride is a graduate of Smyr na High School and took a com mercial course in Morehead City. Prior to her marriage she was employed at Rex Restaurant. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Chadwick. Mr. Nichols is a graduate of Morehead City High School and is employed at Lloyd A. Fry Roof ing Co. Mrs. Gillikin Honored At Shower Tuesday Night Mrs. Ralph Gillikin of Williston, a recent bride, was honored at a shower Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Catherine Piner, Williston. Hostesses were Mrs. Piner, Mrs. Mildred Piner, Mrs. Carrie Gilli kin, Mrs. Lela Gillikin, Mrs Rosa Fulcher, Mrs. Martha Wade and Mrs. Thelma Willis. The honoree was presented a corsage of pink rosebuds upon ar rival and the hostess gave her a white bedspread. Mrs. Eunice Willis won door prize. Bingo and other games were played. The bride's table was covered with a white crocheted cloth and held an arrangement of red zin nias. The gift room was decorated with red and white gladiolas. Lime punch, cake with pink and green icing, bridal mints and salt ed nuts were served the thirty-five guests.
