Mrs. Gretchen Brinson, a native of Morehcad City and long a mem ber of First Methodist Church, will assume the duties of Miss Critcher. Mrs. Brinson has served the More head City church as a leader all of her life except for the year when she lived out of the city. Mr. Herbert, pastor of First Methodist Church, has said of Mrs. Brinson, "Mrs. Gretchen Brinson lived in the town of Roanoke dur ing my pastorate there at First Methodist Church some years ago. By all means she was considered one of the finest church school teachers that First Methodist Church, Roanoke Raipds, bad. 1 am deeply appreciative of her will ingness to take over Miss Critch er's work insofar as her busy pro fessional and bome life will allow. I feel we are exceedingly for tunate." A group of young people from First Methodist Church returned Monday from Ferrum Junior Col lege, Ferrum, Va., where for sev eral days they had attended the Conference of the Christian Youth Corps. The group consisted of Miss Anna Critcher, leader, Miss Nancy Laughton, Miss Anne Herbert, Miss Annette Cooper and Mr. Wayne Economon. Mrs. Theodore Econo mon provided her car for transpor tation and went with the young people as chaperone. The church school building com mittee, under the chairmanship of G. E. Sanderson, met with the church school officers and Mr. Archie Davis, architect of Durham, recently to discuss and prepare for final plans for the renovation of the education building and the building of the new structure. The committee expects, at the next meeting with the architect, that they will agree on final plans. The church is looking forward to the coming of Dr. Frank Crossley Morgan for the Bible Conference ? Sept. 21-28. The conference will be sponsored by First Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church for the entire period Sept. 21-28. Morning services will be held Sept. 22-26 at 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church. The two churches will share Dr. Morgan's ministry for the Sunday morning services. He will preach Sunday morning, Sept. 21, at First Presby terian Church and at the same hour Sept. 28 at First Methodist Church.
