Already the two institutions have been or ganized. A president and board of trustees are already function ing for Methodist College at Fay etteville. A vice-president and board of truster's are functioning for North Carolina Wesleyan Col lege at Rocky Mount. It is antici pated that each of these colleges will be open for day students with in two years. The North Carolina Methodist Conference, in establish ing two colleges it breaking all records of the denomination. In deed, it has been quite a few years since a new Methodist college has been organized in the United States. Bishop Paul N. Garber. leader of Methodists in the state, is given much of the credit for this ad vance in higher Christian educa tion in North Carolina. It is esti mated by higher education lead ers that by 1878 the number of students applying for entrance to colleges in North Carolina will be double the present figure.
