Jones were Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bradley of Kipling. Mrs. Downum Entertains Bridge Club Thursday Mrs. Billy Downum entertained her bridge club last Thursday eve ning at her home. C. ? | Married During Hurricane Mrs. Ray M. WUU? Mia* Mary Lou Owen* became the hride of Mr. Ray M. Willis in a single ring ceremony Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at Ann Street Methodist Church, while hurricane Helene raged. The Rev. John Cline, pastor, of ficiated against a background of yellow gladiolas, chrysanthemums, pom poms and greenery. Mrs. Charles Hassell, organist, and Mr. Alton Hardison of New port. soloist, presented a program of nuptial music prior to the cere mony. Mr. Hardison sang Because, O Promise Me and The Lord's Prayer. The bride was given in marriage by her cousin, Mr. Clyde P. Owens. She wore a waltz length dress of mist blue chiffon over taffeta. The bodice was designed with a bateau neckline dipping low in the back and three quarter length sleeves, the bouffant skirt accented by a wide cummerbund of crushed chif fon. She wore a scalloped veil of blue net attached to a satin tiara en crusted with seed pearls and car ried a nosegay of yellow roses. Mrs. Leslie Feagle attended the bride as matron of honor. She wore a waits length dress of yellow taf feta fashioned with a fitted bodice and bouffant skirt. She wore a headpiece similar to the hride's and carried a cascade bouquet of yetlow chrysanthemums, daisies, and pom poms Mr. Clarence H. Guthrie, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Mr. TBomas Morton of More head City and Mr Ward King. A reception was held immediate ly following the ceremony at 402 Turner Street. Guests were greet ed by Mrs. William Willis and Miss Patsy Hardesty presided at the guest book. Miss Jean Chailwick poured punch and Mrs. Feagle served cake. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Owens wore a champagne lace dress with a corsage of yellow feathered carnations. Mrs. Willis, mother of the bridegroom, wore a blue dress and a corsage of pink carnations. Following a brief wedding trip the couple is at home at 402 Turner St., Beaufort. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew T. Owens. She is a graduate of The American SchMt and ii employed by Carteret County as tax collectiona clerk. Alton Willis Observes Birthday With Party Mr. Alton Willis of Harkers Is land was honored at a surprise birthday party Friday night at Lea's Fith House, Harkers Island. McLOIION Jarvis S. McLohon of Morehead City died early Thursday morning at McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Va., after a lengthy ill ness. Funeral services will be conduct ed at 4 o'clock this afternoon in First Methodist Church. Motrhead City, by the pastor, the Rev. J. F. Herbert. Interment will be in Bayview Cemetery. PA ir. c > Two Accidents At Same Corner Morehead City police yesterday reported two wrecks at 24th and Evani Streets in the past week. One was Wednesday night and the other was laat Saturday morn ing. Patrolman Joe Giaimo charged Harold Lee Baker, Williston. with running a stop sign and having improper brakes after Wednes day's wreck. Baker allegedly ran the stop sign on Evans Street and ran his two Plymouth into the side of a 1953 Buick driven by David Lee Bullock, Oxford, N. C. Damage to each car was estimated ?t $250. Chief Herbert Griffin investigat ed Saturday's accident. The chief reports that a 1956 Ford driven by James Pinder. Belen, N. M , and a 1954 Plymouth driven by Julius Nelson Sr., Morehead City, collid ed at the intersection. Chief Griffin estimated damage to each car at $100. There were no charges.
