Choir to Meet T omorrow
The Junior Churchgoers Choir
will mart Saturday at 10:30. At
thil meeting it will ha decided wbe
ther the choir will change the
meeting hour. Last Saturday the
chair had a picnic at Broad Creak
Methodist Church.
The children are working on
their special music presentation
for October and November and on
the Christmas music. Parents are
urged to cooperate in reminding
children of the hour of the meet
ing.
On lfonday three carloads of
members of the church will attend
the conference-wide meeting of the
Christian Higher Education pro
gram at the municipal auditorium
in Raleigh. The meeting will con
vene at 10. At the noon hour a
barbecue lunch will be provided
b(r the conference to all delegates.
Any member desiring to attend
this meeting who has not already

The Christian Higher Education
campaign has as Its goal five mil
lion dollars in pledges this fall, for
the purpose of ecostructing the two
WW Methodist rsllsgss in the
North Carolina Conference area,
which cavers the Eastern half at
the state. The North Carolina Was
te yan College will be built at Rocky
Mount. The name of the college
to be built at Fayettevilb- is the
Methodist College. Already five
million dollars has been reached
by the communities where the col
leges will be built.

Marine, was received into the
church Sunday, Oct. S, by letter
of transfer from the Van Owen
Baptist Church, North Hollywood,
Calif. Mrs. Borowy lives at 2004 >2

On Feb. 14 through March 1 the
L. O. Leet evangelistic meeting
will begin. This meeting will lilt
up stewardship among our people
as essential to the Christian life
and the proper support of the

The Rev. Paul B. Nickens, Ply
mouth, will be the guest evangelist
at the revival next week in the
First Baptist Church. Beaufort.
Services will be held Monday
throagh Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and
7:30 p.m.
Mr. Nickens is a graduate of
Wake Forest College and South
eastern Theological Seminary. For
the past 17 years he has been pas
tor of the Ludford Memorial Bap
tist Church, Plymouth.
The Rev. Alec Thompson, pas
tor of the First Baptist Church,

New Pastor
The Rev. M. L. Herring is th#
new pastor at Broad Creek
Church of God.
He is overseer of the Morchead
City district, which covers six
churches. Mr. Herring is from
Salisbury, N. C.
Police Find Three Bears,
Baboon Chained to Tree
Dallas (AP)? Mrs. Joe Fain and
Mrs. Jean Wilkey called police to
report three bears chained to a
tree. Police found the three bears,
all right, plus a baboon. They said
they could do nothing unless the
animals escaped or made a fuss.
The animals belonged to a fam
ily living in a nearby trailer house.
