Swansboro Garden Club Holds Meeting Thursday The Swansboro Seaspray Gar den Club met Thursday morning at the community building. The door priie was donated by Franklin Church Meets $5,904 Quota The Rev. S. S. Moore, pastor of Franklin Memorial Methodist Church, Morehead City, reported yesterday that his congregation has already pledged its quota, $5,904, in the Methodist fund campaign for higher education. Mr. Moore, whose congregation numbers about 250, said that he believes the church is the first in the state to reach its quota. Dr. A. J. Hobbs, Methodist superintendent, New Bern, said he beoes this will serve as an inspiration to other congrega tions as they begin campaigns to meet their quotas. Carteret Attorneys Assume District Offices Gene Smith, Beaufort attorney, wis elected lint vice-president of the Third Judicial District Bar Association Friday at New Bern. George McNeill. Morehead City attorney, was elected to the ex ecutive committee. Attorneys of Carteret, Craven, Pamlico and Pitt Counties attend ed the meeting in the Governor Try on Hotel. J. Spencer Bell, chairman of the committee on the improvement of justice, was the speaker. Harvey Hamilton Jr., Morehead City attorney, and secretary-treas urer, reported on the prior meet ing. The new president is Judge J. W. H. Roberts- Greenville. Mrs. Gibson and won by Mrs. Joan Leslie. Ribbons, for arrangements usiag shells, driftwood or unusual containers, were won by Mrs. Brite, Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Withoy. Mrs. Carrie Milstead, and Mrs. Helen Kay. For horticulture, ribbons went to Mrs. Brite and Mrs. Withey. Mrs. Zelma Merrell introduced the speaker, the Rev. Tucker R. Littleton o f Beaufort, who lectured on the history of Tryon Palace, its use and restoration. His en thusiasm for his subject left every one wishing that the palace would open immediately.
