Chairman Reports on 1958 Migrant Ministry Program The Rev. A1 Daniel, chairman of the County Ministers Associa tion migrant ministry committee, has reported on the 1958 migrant ministry in the county. Caah donations received from county churches to finance the program totaled M83.M; sent to the North Carolina Council of Churches for minister's services, $325; spent in the county for room rent for the minister, promotional materials and equipment, $120.35; balance on hand to finish this year and begin next year's work, $3( 63. The minister working with the migrants last summer was the Rev. Marahall Gilmore. Among the recommendations made for next year were the fol lowing; ? Direct and personal contact with all growers and a represents tive number of them put on the" migrant ministry committee ? More local agencies and Ne gro ministers contacted personally before the minister arrives and encourage them to work in the program ? More equipment made avail able, such as projectors, athletic cquipmnet. games, toys, films, etc. ? Have list of volunteer helpers before minister arrives ? If possible, have a part-time helper or secretary for the migrant minister Mr. Daniel expressed his thanks to committee members for their cooperation this year. The first meeting, to plan the 1959 migrant ministry program, will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 20, in the educational building of Ann Street Church, Beaufort. Methodists Will Observe Day of Dedication Sunday On Sundty the First Methodist Church of Mori-head City will ob serve Dedication Sunday which will be recognized throughout the North Carolina Conference. DAVIS Distributor Texaco Products Marc held City ucation campaign captains and teams to the task of raising the necessary funds for the two new colleges to be built in North Caro lina: the North Carolina Wesleyan College a Rocky Mount and the Methodist College at Fayetteville. Five million dollars must be raised and of this, First Methodist Church has been asked to con tribute *41, 634.00. On Wednesday a Loyalty Dinner was held in connection with the campaign, in the basement of the education building. No solicitations were made at the dinner. Several talks were given. Among the speakers was Rufus Butner, chair man of the Christian Higher Edu cation campaign. Dr. Hiram K. King will occupy First Church pulpit Sunday in the absence of the pastor, Rev. J. F. Herbert. Dr. King has many friends in this vicinity, for he was super intendent of the New Bern district prior to his appointment to the position of executive secretary to the Board of Evangelism which he now holds. Dr. King makes his home in Raleigh. He has preached many times at First Methodist Church and the congregation looks forward eagerly to his return. Episcopalians Will Attend Convocations Representatives of the 12 pa rishes and missions of the Episco pal Dioeese of East Carolina, com prising the convocations of Eden ton and Wilmington, will convene in annual meetings this month. The Edenton Convocation will meet in St. Thomas's Church, Ahoskie, Wednesday, Nov. 19. The Rev John C. Owens is rector of St. Thomas's and Mrs. llelene White is president of the hostess Woman's Auxiliary. The Wilmington Convocation will meet next day, Nov. 20, in St. Stephen's Church, Goldsboro. The program, with the theme. One Family In Christ, is planned for both convocations. A celebration of the lioly Com munion will be held at 10:00 a.m., prior to the two meetings, with the Rt. Rev. Thomas H. Wright, Bishop of East Carolina, as cele brant. The convocational offering will be presented at that time. Climaxing the program in each Convocation will be an address by Bishop Wright. Acolytes Organize An Acolyte Guild was organized recently in St. Andrew's Episco pal Church, Morehead City, an nounces the Rev. E. Guthrie Brown, rector. The objectives of the group are to promote Christian living among its members, to promote loyalty to the rector and parish officials, to encourage more frequent attend ance at the services of the church, to promote friendship and brother hood among members of the guild, to assist in the services of the church as crucifer, Dag bearers and server. The following officers have been elected: James Leigh, president; George Wallace, vice-president; Mark Piatt, secretary.
