Brown and Mrs. Lockwood Phil lips entertained nine tables at a dessert bridge Tuesday afternoon at the Inlet Inn. The room was decorated in a fall motif. Dessert consisted of lemon meringue pie and coffee. Mrs. N. F. Eure won high score prize, a tole tray, and Mrs. Gene Smith and Mrs. Carl llataell tied for low score. Mrs. Smith received a gold basket fiP'd with pine cones and Mrs. Hatsell received * bridge set. Obituary MRS. CARRIE W. HAMIJN Mrs Carrie W. Hamlin, 87, of Beaufort died Wednesday morn ing at Morehead City Hospital. Funeral services will be con ducted at 2:30 this afternoon in Ann Street Methodist Church by the Rev. John Cline, pastor. Bur ial will be in Oceanview Cemetery. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mattie Oden of Philadelphia. Pa.; aqd one niece, Mrs. Phil N. Thomas of Baaufort, with whom she made her home. ?hoik Duit Final Pep Rally is Given; Lamba Chi Honors Faculty By BUNNY MOOBE What a way to end the aeaaon! The Seadogs ended their football season last Friday night with a smashing victory over Swansboro. 3S-?. The boys proved that they are (till on top and the Beaufort fans consider them the best. It was the last game for some of the boys and I am sure they will never forget it. This year there was more spirit throughout the high school than ever before and for this reason I know every one hated to see the season eod. Last Friday morning the last football pep-rally was held. Truly this was one of the best. We had a few words from members of the team and the coach, and then the cheering began. The Latin Club will hold their bi-weekly meeting today. In charge of the program for this meeting will be Bunny Moore. The Debating Club held their meeting Tuesday, Nov. U. The club set a date for taking in new members. Also it was decided that this year debates would be given before the high school. The Lambda Chi honored the faculty with a tea last Wednesday, Nov. 5. She was born on September 19, 1941. Ro berta stands 5' 5" tall and weighs 125 lbs. Her favorite food is fried chick en. The song she likes most is a new one out, I'll Wait For You. Her favorite '--male and male ar tists are Joni James and Clyde M.Thatter. Roberta's pet peeve is hurrying. Her future plans are to take up housekeeping after graduation in the spring. While in high school she has been a member of the FI1A and the glee club. Mr. Senior goes by the name of Herman Allen Autry. Allen was born on April 29, 1941. He is 6? 3" tall and weighs 19S lbs. His favorite food is club steak. The song that rates tops with him is Make Believe. His favorite fe male and male artists are Joni James and Perry Como. Allen's pet peeve is know-it-alls. His future plans are to attend col lege and law school. While in high school he has been a member of the Latin Club, an nual staff, glee club, student coun cil, FTA, science club, beta club, varsity club, debating club, and a member of the football and bas ketball teams. County Bridge League Winners are Announced Mrs. J. C. Keel and Mrs. Julia Tenney were winners at the county bridge league Monday night at the recreation building in Morehead City. Six tables were in play. Mrs. J. S. Steed and Mr. Harry Saunders were second, Mrs. Saun ders and Mr. Jack Windley were thrid. and Mrs. Myrtle Duncan and Mr. Calvin Jones were fourth. Last week's winners were Mrs. C. L. Beam and Mrs. Jack Wind ley, north-south, and Mrs. Floyd Sutherland and Mrs. Carl Gunner sen, east-west. Other north-south winners were Mrs. C. P. Davis and Mrs. Claud Whcatly Sr., second; and Mr. and Mrs. Al Dewey, third. Other east-west winners were Mrs. Don Martin and Mr. C. L. Beam, second; and Mrs. llarvey Hamilton Sr. and Mr. Calvin Jones, third. t Third Graders Present PTA Program Monday Mrs. Carrie Lee Hancock's third grade presented the program at the meeting of Beaufort PTA Mon day night at the school. Devotions were given by the Rev. C. Edward Sharp, pastor of St. Paul's Epis copal Church. Mrs. Albert Chappel!, program chairman, announced that Mrs. Beatrice Martin's first grade will give a Christmas program at the December meeting. Mr. Gordon Becton, president, announced that Mrs. Jarvis Her ring had resigned her position as vice-president and that he will ap point someone to fill the vacancy at the next meeting. The treasurer reported $507.33 in the treasury and Mrs. Billy Taylor announced that 632 mem bers had joined the PTA. Mrs. Dot Taylor announced that a country store will be open at the fashion show and music review Friday and Saturday nights at the school. Principal Bruce Tarkington said that the school campus is being cleared to the railroad tracks. He said that in 1952, when he became principal, the school had 850 stu dents. He said that there are more ele mentary students now than there were in the whole school then and asked that parents consider sep arating the elementary and high school students. He also announced that the band would march in the llavelock parade Tuesday. Attendance prizes were won by Mrs. Ann Neal's first, Mrs. Flor ence Brooks' seventh and Miss Lena Duncan's twelfth. Attends Workshop J. A. DuBois, manager of the Morehead City chamber of com merce, attended a workshop at Raleigh Wednesday for chamber of commerce executives. Ed Cher ry, Atlanta, representative of the southeastern division, US chamber of commerce, conducted the ses sion. Emphasis was on long-range planning. 2^' The November meeting of the Bettie Home Demonstration Club was held at the home of Mrs. Adc Simpson. Mrs. Simpson is a very aetive club member and has not missed a meeting in 1C years. We certainly could not expect ta make such a wonderful record but Mrs. Ada's spirit of attendance should enable us to try to attend more meetings. Her daughter-in law, Laura, has 15 years perfect attendance plus holding offices and being appointed to committees. Next month. Dec. 5, the meeting is at Pat Gillikin's house so this is an invitation to all members and prospective members to at tend. Included in this invitation are the Misses Minniev Mary Ellen, Viola, Kathleen, Faye, Virginia, Josaphine. Nannie, Janet, Mattie, Hilda and Lelah. Attending the last meeting were Mrs. Bertie Midgett, Mrs. Claire Salter, Mrs. Bertie Simpson and Cynthia, Mrs. Ada Simpson, Mrs. Verna Salter, Frankie, Barbara, and Virginia, Laura Simpson and Mary, Emily Gillikin and Debbie, Beulah Suiter, Mrs. Spivey and Pat Gillikin and Shannon. They were so good we didn't see or hear them. Mrs. Floy Garner was not pres ent to Laura Simpson gave a dem onstartion on working with plastic lacings. It was decided to limit the December meeting's Christmas gifts to fifty cents. Anyone attend ing bring one gift. Delicious sweet-potato pie and coffee were served. We all had a good time. Not a single trace of Amelia Ear hart, famed aviatrix, was ever found since she disappeared over the Pacific Ocean after starting her second world flight in 1937.
