Cub Scout Den Will Fix
A Thanksgiving Bosket
Den 4 of park 367, Beaufort, had
Its weekly den meeting at the
home of our den mother, Mrs. Ed
mond Nelson, last week. John
Chadwiek served refreshments to
the six cubs, den chief, and four
visitors.
We opened with the grand salute,
den yell and flag ceremony. After
the roll call and dues were col
lected, our den chief tailed our
attention to newspaper clippings
of pack meetings and den meet
ings posted on our bulletin board.
Work was continued on our den
doodle. We plan to fix a Thanks
giving basket for a shut-in. Atsa
we were asked to start bringing
new or good used toys for Christ
mas gifts, to be given to the fin
men.
Cubs who had not finished paint
ing their paper weights continued
to work on them and those who
had finished worked on elective
16 in the Bear Book. We made a
den flower bed with tulips, hya
cinths and King Alfred bulbs, using
the dibble (hole-digger) our den
chief had made.
We closed with the living circle.
William Ivey Adair will treat us
next week.

the radio station.

Plays Master Point Game
The monthly master point game
was played by the County Bridge
League Monday night at the ree
reation building in Morehead City.
Nine and one-half tables were in
play.
North-south winners were Dr.

Lewis, both of New Bern. Second
place was won by Mr. and Mrs.
A1 Dewey, third place by Mrs.
George Bissette of New Bern and
Mrs. F. L. Maerz of Cherry Point,

Troop 123 met at Mrs. Leonard
Safrit'g house Monday afternoon.
We called the meeting to order,
collected dues and refreshments
were served by Jennifer Tarking

Oh boy! Does it cost to eat! We
went over the cost of our food
menu for our cook-out. Then we
discussed our badge work.
We planned a map of Carteret
County, to be drawn by Rita Dun
can. Then we sang taps, had our
friendship circle and dismissed.

The Ann Neal Circle of Ann
Street Methodist Church met Mon
day morning at the home of Mrs.
Robert Safrit Jr. Mrs. J. S. Steed
was co-hostess.
Devotions were given by Mrs.
Steed and the program was given
by the chairman. Mrs. Jim Wheat
ley. The circle discussed ways to
help the Red Cross Gray Ladies
at Camp Lejeune or Cherry fatto.
Following the meeting a social
hour was held and coffee and cof
feecake were served by the hos
tesses.

the Marshallberg Baptist Church

Mrs. James Buchanan was in

It was announced that the next

Fashion Models Draw Praise,
Juniors Enjoy Ice Cream Party

When you think of models you
usually think a I girls but if you
were present at the Music and
Fashion Show last Friday and Sat
urday nights yow aaw something
a little different.
U you didn't see Calvin Jones
and Butch Massed modeling you
really missed something. All
leading aside, they did very well
and the show was a great suctesa.
The program, under the capable
direction of Mrs. Ilassell, was one
of the best. Singing, acting, danc
ing, as well as the fashions were
enjoyed by everyone.

ples that were sold at the country
store during the musical show and
also during school hours Friday.
It never pays to sneak anything
or your might get stuck. (Ask
Paula Hill if her mouth is still
stuck together from the candy ap
ples.)
The Juniors were entertained
last Friday with an ice cream
p^rty. The party ^vas given to the
class that had sold the most sub
scriptions for the magazine sale.
Basketball practice began last,
week at BHS. This year Jimmy I

coaching football, will be the girl's!
coach. Mr. McQuaid will have his
same place coaching the boys. |
We are all looking forward to
an exciting season with both
teams.

Linda Kay Sailer as Miss Senior.
She was born to Dr. and Mrs.
Theodore Salter on April 17, 1941.
Linda stands 5' SVa" tall and
weighs 113 lbs. Her favorite food
is steak. The song that rates high
est with her is Autumn Leaves.
Her favorite recording artists are
Julie London and Frank Sinatra.
Linda's pet peeve is "getting up
in the morning." Her future plans
are to attend college next fall. She
was voted the best-all-around and
most outstanding girl in the senior
class.
While in high school she has
been a member of the Beta Club,
Latin Club, student council, FTA,
Varsity Club, Debating Club, sen
ior superlative, class officer, an
nual staff, band, and a member
of the basketball team.

give 28 baskets of fruit to the sick
and shut-in for Thanksgiving.
