Miss Hannah Wrae Nelson of
Ilarkers Island became the bride
of Joseph Thomas Beasley of Bur
gaw in a simple ceremony Friday
evening at six-thirty at her home.
Elder Linwood Hancock of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints officiated. The coaple
was unattended.
The bride wore a street length
dress of light blue flannel with
brown accessories and a corsage
of red rosebuds.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Horace Nelson of Har
k'-rs Island. She is a graduate of
Smyrna High School and is a sen
ior at East Carolina College. At
present she is doing her practice
teaching at Plymouth.
The bridegroom attended Bur
gaw High School and is now serv
ing in the Coast Guard at Cape
Lookout.

funeral of Mrs. May Shipp Kelly.

Coast Guard from Norfolk. Va.,
and are making their home at 413
Turner St. Mr. Wade is stationed
at Fort Macon.

Greenville are expected to spend
the weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Martin Willis.

Speaks Vows At Davis

Miss Gladys Fay Willis of Davis
became the bride of Preston Lee
Davis, of Davis, in a double ring
ceremony Thursday, Thanksgiving
Day, at six o'clock in the evening
in the Davis Free Will Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Henry J. Vran Kluyve,
pastor, officiated. Prior to the
ceremony a program of nuptial
music was presented by Mrs.
Joyce W. Moore, cousin of the
bride, organist, and Miss Virginia
Willis, sister of the bride, soloist.
Miss Willis sang Whither Thou
Goest, Sweetest Story Ever Told,
and Wedding Prayer.
The vows were spoken before a
background of palms, fern, white
gladiolas and seven-branched can
delabra holding lighted tapers.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
ballerina length gown of lace and
tulle over taffeta. The gown was
designed with a bouffant skirt and
fitted bodice covered with a brief
jacket of lace featuring an Eliza
bethan collar and long sleeves
ending in point* over the hands.
Her fingertip veil of illusion fell
from a tiara of lace, pearls and
sequins. She carried a white
prayer book topped with a white
orchid.

Mr. Willis and Mr. Tolson re
ceived award certificates and Mr.
Willis received a gold cup for
being high salesman in the dis
trict. En route home Tuesday they
stopped in Kinston and New Bern.

Miss Kay Prytherch, a junior at
East Carolina College, waa named
to the honor roll for the spring and
fall quarters and her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Herbert Prytherch, who will
graduate in February, waa named
to the dean's list for the fall
tuarter.

Willis wore a gray lace dress over
a pink underskirt with matching
accessories and a corsage of pink
carnations. Mrs. Davis, mother of
the bridegroom, wore a dark green
crepe dress with a corsage of
white carnations.
Immediately following the cere
mony a reception was held at the
home of the bride. Guests were
greeted by Mrs. Graham Fulcher
and introduced to the receiving
line, composed of the wedding
party and Mrs. Grady Davis.
Miss Melba Davis, cousin of the
bridegroom, presided at the brldc'e
book and Miss Brenda Willis, cou
sin of the bride, presided in the
gift room.
Mrs. Pearl Davis poured punch
and Miss Gloria Jean Davis, cou
sin of the bride, served cake.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Julius G. Willis of Davis.
She is a graduate of Smyrna High
School and attended Mount Olive
Junior College. She is employed in
Davis.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ira Davis of Davis. He
attended Smyrna High School and
is now serving in the United States
Coast Guard. He is stationed
aboard the CGC Chilula, based at
Morehead City.
Upon their return from a wed
ding trip the couple are making
their home in Davis.
