Olsen will arrive today from Tacoma, Wash., to spend Christmas with their parents, the K. W. Olsens and Mrs. Vira Lockcy. Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson Jr. and sons, Johnny and Davey, of Silver Springs, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Guthrie of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., will spend the holidays with Mrs. John Nelson. Mrs. W. A. Mrs. Phillips Entertains Jack Eure Class Thursday The Jackie Eure Sunday School class of First Methodist Church met at the home of Mrs. George Phillips Thursday evening for the annual Christmas party. The forty guests enjoyed group singing of Christmas carols. Games were played and prizes awarded the winners and gifts were exchanged. The table wa? centered with a silver candelabra entwined with greenery and tied with pink balls. The candelabra held lighted pink candles. A crystal punch bowl and silver service were also used on the table. The buffet was decorated with two glittered snowmen and other holiday arrangement* were used throughout the home. Punch, sandwiches, cookies, nuts and candies were served. Hostes ses were Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Lu ther Hamilton Jr., Mrs. John Con ner, Mrs. Paul Gaskill, Mrs. Charlea McNeill, Mrs. Kenneth Wagner and Mrs. A. T. Lcary Jr. Receives Promotion Joseph A. DuBois Jr. has been promoted to the rank of cadet col onel and is the wing commander of the AFROTC unit at State Col lege, Raleigh, where he is a stu dent. Women of Woodcraft, court no. 1130, Newport Obituaries CHARLIE LEWIS Charlie Lewis, 76, of Markers Island died at Morchcad City Hos pital Friday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Harkers Island, by the Rev. S. L. Wichard, pastor. Interment was in the family cemctery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ar necia Lewis; one son, Joe Lane of Harkers Island; five daughters, Mrs. Charlie Russell, Mrs. Everett Willis, Mrs. Johnny Lane Lewis and Mrs. Guion Lewis, all of Mar kers Island, and Mrs. Dan Sadler of Beaufort, and sixteen grandchil dren. MAJOR T. GASKILL Major T. Gaskill, 86, of Stacy died at the home of his son, Ro maine Gaskill, Friday evening. Funeral services were conducted at the Stacy Free Will Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Winston Sweeney, pastor. In terment was in Stacy cemetery. Surviving are his son; one ne phew, Alvin Willis, whom he reared; two grandchildren. MRS. ROSSA B. SANDERS Funeral services for Mrs. Rossa Buck Sanders, 70, of Morehead City were conducted from the fun eral chapel of George W. Dill and Sons yesterday with the Rev. S. S. Moore, pastor of Franklin Me morial Methodist Church, officiat ing. Mrs. Sanders died in Raleigh Friday. Interment will be in Broad Creek Cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Fred of Savannah, Ga., John and Larry of Sarasota, Fla.; one daugh ter, Mrs. C. J. Taylor of Sarasota, Fla.; three brothers, Carl and Wal ter Buck of Broad Creek and Stan cil Buck of California; one sister, Mrs. Ivy Frost of Broad Creek, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildrcn. Girl Scout Troop Brings Food for Needy Family Girl Scout Troop 220 met Wed nesday at the Camp Glenn school lunchroom. Instead of having a Christmas party, we brought food for a needy family. (AP)-A civil damage suit in Superior Court was titled, aa customary, by names of tin litigants: Caah vs. RolL Vincent Boyce Oglesby Takes Bride in Virginia Saturday Miss Dorothy Christine Vaden of Danville, Va., and Vincent Boyce Oglesby of Morehcad City and Warwick, Va., were united in mar riage Saturday afternoon at four o'clock at West Main Baptist Church, Danville, Va. Dr. Howard W. Lee officiated at the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with poin settias, palms and candelabra holding lighted candles. Miss Mary Louise Jones, organ ist, and Eugene Stryker, soloist, presented a program of nuptial music prior to the ceremony. Mr. Stryker sang Because, O Perfect Love, and The Lord's Prayer. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Herman L. Vaden, wore a ballerina length gown of chantilly lace over taffeta fashioned with long sleeves ending in wedding points over the hands. The gown featured a high round neckline outlined in seed pearls and a bouffant skirt. Her veil of french illusion fell from a petal shell cap of lace trimmed with seed pearls and she car-ied a white Bible centered with a white orchid and cascading bar vidia. Miss Mary Elizabeth Vaden, sis ter of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina dress of red taffeta with a velvet bodice fashioned with a scoop neckline and cap sleeves. She wore a velvet double ban deau of matching color and car ried a bouquet of white carnations and poinsettias. Miss Betty Lou Jefferson of Dan ville, Va., and Miss Loretta Leigh Jater of Newport News, Va., were bridesmaids. They wore emerald green gowns identical in style to that of the honor attendant with matching velvet bandeaux and bouquets of white poinsettias and carnations. Bruton Taylor of Kinston was best man. Henry G. Drudge and Robert L. Stout of Newport News, Va., were ushers. Immediately following the cere Miss Valerie Ambrose Entertains at Dance Miss Valerie Ambrose enter tained at a formal holiday dance Thursday evening at the recrea tion building. Twenty-eight guests attended. A small tree was used t* center the refreshment table and minia ture colored trees were used on smaller tables. Upon arrival each of the girls received a miniature corsage. The guests danced to recorded music. Refreshments of canapes, cake and punch were served. She is a graduate of Long wood College and is employed at War wick High School. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Ogles by, graduated from East Carolina College and is employed at War wick Junior High School. U Garden and Civics Group Holds Christmas Meeting The Garden and Civics Depart ment of the Woman's Club held its Christmas meeting Wednesday afternoon at the civic center. The meeting was opened by Mri. >1. J. Loutit, chairman. Guests at the meeting were Mrs. O. H. Johnson, Mrs. Walter Huf ham, Mrs. Owen Dail, Mrs. Ira Long and Mrs. Koonce. I Mrs. G. D. Gamble read the minutes of the November meeting and the treasurer's report was given by Mrs. C. R. Davant. A horticulture report was given by Mrs. Phillip Ball. Mrs. Walter Kidd reported on the November exhibits, and read the list of winners. The problem of the litterbug was discussed and it was moved and seconded that a letter of commen dation be written THE NEWS TIMES, commending the newspa per for its splendid editorials con cerning the problem. The club agreed to give $5 for school lunches for needy children and $10 to a burned-out family. Plans for a white elephant sale in January were discussed. Group singing of Christmas car ols was enjoyed with Mrs. Phillip Ball playing the piano. Mrs. Luther Hamilton Sr. gave an informal talk on her trip to the Holy Land and showed colored slides. The civic center was beautifully dccorated for Christmas. The table from which refreshments were served was covered with a gold cloth and centered with an ar rangement of pine, pine cones, holly and candles. Hoslesscs were Mrs. P. H. Geer, Mrs. George Whittle, Mrs. E. A. Council and Mrs. Alfred Ebbing hausen. Blue ribbons for this month's ex hibits were won by Mrs. Philip Ball, Mrs. C. R. Davant, Mrs. P. H. Geer, and Mrs. F. C. Salisbury. Other ribbons went to Mrs. E. A. Council, Mrs. G. D. Gamble, Mrs. David Murray and Mrs. Wal ter Kidd. Thursday Bridge Club Enjoys Dinner at Rex The Thursday evening bridge club met at Rex Restaurant Wed nesday night with Mrs. Gus Davis as hostess. Prior to bridge a dutch dinner was enjoyed. Christmas gifts were exchanged and Mrs. Milton Roush, who was observing her birthday, was re membered with a gift from the club. ? During progressions Mrs. Davis served colas and nuts. High score was won by Mrs. A. T. Baugh, second high by Mr?. Jasper Phil lips and low by Mrs. H. A. Weeks.
