PAGE FOUR Cattail Creek News Mr. and. Mrs. Robt. How ard arrived from Miami on Thursday to occupy their cabin for the rest of the summer and early fall. Miss Bernice Scoggins of Gary, Indiana is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Suley a t their summer home, Blue Horizons. Miss Scoggins is a lover of the Western North Carolina Mountains and the Cattail Creek Region in particular, and pays them a visit each summer. The Tom Meltons have as their guests this week, Mr. Frank Walters, of Ft. Lau derdale, Fla., and Mr. Peter Jones of Charlotte, N. C. At the Grassmucks Story Book Home new arrivals are Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Frothman of Cincinnati and Mr. James Mitchell and daughter, Sara Jo of Mia mi, Fla. Also Miss Marilyn Moffatt has come from Cin cinnati to spend the sum mer. Much fun and gaiety is being enjoyed by the entire summer colony “up on Cat tail.” The activities center around the Community Hall which has been com pletely remodeled lately. The group makes Tuesday evenings a Canasta Party and on Friday evening they gather for round and square dancing. The msigh bors for miles around join in the merry making with the summer cabin folks. Last Friday evening an old time Barn Dance was held under the supervision of R. E. Shepherd, assisted by R. |W. Craig and W. E. Fisher, the Recruiting Sergeant for Burnsville, ; announced that up until the , time, of this article there has been no change in the recruiting policies of the Army and the Air Force. Sgt. Fishel stated that the Air Force and Army have ’ not put out any new regu | lations about reserves going on active duty, but does expect to get some new information in the near future and will an nounce it in the Yancey Record as soon as anything I comes through. The Army and the Air Force are still accepting volunteers, between the ages of 17 and 34, single men only, with no depend ents with or without prior service. All interested per sons are invited to see Sgt. Fisher at the Courthouse in Burnsville anytime on Mondays.
