DEAR MR. PUBLISHER, by PARSON JONES Dear Mr. Publisher: n. I taught the Woman's Bible Class this past Sunday, -and really got an education. The lesson was about King David The ladies allowed as how David was a good leader, and the closest thing the world has had to Mm since then is Vice Agnew. Well, needless to say, from that point on the lesson was about Agnew and the press. One woman pointed out that the Vice President is the first per son who has spoke for the silent majority for a long time. She said it was about time somebody cut the TV so Iks down to size. After all people should be allowed to have the kind of news they want - especially if they are the ma jority. Sister Esther disagreed. She said Russia always reports the good things about their country, and we all know it's propaganda. She allowed as how muzzling free - dom of speech is like the dog who had a gold collar and ate steaks.- but wasn’t allowed to bark. Ellie Nickelsinger argued that this is a free country, where the majority rules, and if they want all good news then they ought to get it. After all, the majority is right. Sister Esther allowed as how that would make the mob that crucified Jesus right. According to Esther, the crowd has been wrong more often than it's been right. She said censoring the press was like telling the preacher what he oughta preach. Ellie swore that might not be a bad idea. She said the people who pay the preacher's salary should have some say-so in what they hear. __ When the class was over - I was glad. The way it looks Mr. Publisher, pretty soon ” ?<y na be preachintr the Gospel according to Gallo I gotta be signing off for u any good books you think it woule _ for me to read, how about bringing 'em the next time you come.
