Raylene Fox Molds Trophy Awarded For “Cutest Dancer”
New Clogging Teams
"The Yancey Promenaders"
and "Burnsville Pee Wee Clog
gers" are two new dance team
which have been formed from
Burnsville Elementary School
under the direction of Mr s.
Raymond Fox. These teams
along with the "Country Store
Cloggers" will perform in the
Yancey Youth Jamboree and
in other summer events,
"The Yancey Promenaders"
are 6th and 7th grade students:
Billy Gouge, Marty Johnson,
Ricky Ray, Ronnie Gregory,
Darrel Styles, Bobby Hokorrfce,
Mike Bailey, Greg
Presnell, Debbie Me Dowell,

Gets Award
Last September the "Country
Store Cloggers" danced at the
Apple Festival in Henderson -
ville, N.C. More than a hun
dred dancers from various parts
of the state participated.
Two weeks ago, the small
est of all the dancers, Raylene
Fox, received a letter from
Mr. C.J. Fisher. He told her
how much he and Mrs. Fisher
had enjoyed her dancing, and
that they wanted to send her
a present.
On May 28, Raylene re
ceived a phone call from Mr.
Fisher who had arrived at the
Country Store with a pres ent.
It was a beautiful trophy with
the following inscription on the
front: "Raylene Fox, Cutest
Dancer Apple Festival 1970".
Mr. and Mrs. Fisher live
in Florida during the winter
months and in Hendersonville
during the summer. He is a
retired circus performer. The
Fishers plan to return to Yan
cey County in August to see
Raylene perform in the Yan
cey Youth Jamboree.

turned home after visiting his
son, Marshall who lives in
Georgia. While there he suf
fered a heart attack. We all
wish him a speedy recovery.

ed home after spending a week
in Yancey Hospital.
Mrs. Peg lopiccolo has re
turned back to her home after
visiting in Jamaica and Florida.

week their daughter, Mrs. Jua
nita Russell from Miami, Fla.
Also visiting with her were her
daughter, Mrs. Wayne Saun -
ders and her granddaughter,
Sharon.
