He did the time thing to Madison County in 1967. He is attempting through le gislation to thwart the will of the people of Yancey County by depriving the people of a representative school board. He has gerrymandered the county for political purposes. Ramsey devised this so that those elected from this week. They also brought along a Wend, Mr. Albert Linsly. • • Betty and Nola Garland v*re hostesses for a Household Show er in honor of Miss Sharon Gaim of Johnson City, Tenn. First + Aid I Supplies ■ Letters To The Editor the Burnsville, Cane .Rwer, Egypt, Ramseytown, Green Mountain, Brush Creek, Jacks Creek and Crabtree precincts will be of his political party nnH will control the next Board of Education. He's pretty sure that the member elected from the newly car ved out South Toe, Pensacola, and Prices Creek precincts will be of the opposite party Ramsey gives the votes of the latter precincts no chanoe to vote on the majority of the membes of the Yancey Cou nty Board of Education. This is the action of a politician more interested in maintaining political control than in improving the educa tional system and helping to give quality education to the thousands of children in Yan cey County! Must the stu dents receive least considera tion in the scheme of things? Small counties like Madi son and Yancey should elect their Boards of Education Iran the counties at large so all the p>eople will have a voice. Otherwise democracy is ne gated and hundreds of people are denied the right of fran chise guaranteed by the U. S. Constitution. Under Ramaes political scheme, each citi zen's vote does not have the same weight--a denial of due process of law! Madison and Yanceyhould be put under the statewide school board election law. The best way to do that is to defeat Ramsey in either the primary or general electim in 1972. He represents the Ponder political ring in Mar - shall. The future is dark in deed if he's the only fellow we can find to represent this district. Defeat him, I say! Sincerely, Joe L» Morgan, Route 2, Marshall, N.C. ★ Dear Editor: "There is no blood avail - able for you!" Would not this be sad— in deed, shocking! Some thirty yeas ago, it was not possible to call a Red Cross Blood Bank and gst blood since there was no blood bank. For a patient, it is most vital to be able to administer blood immediately. Late is t not good enough. Tomorrow is too late. To give blood is really to give part of one's self —a hu man transplant. It is a most unselfish act. There is nothing—nothing that can take the place o f blood. No known medicine or machine. It is a cause for gratitude that we have the Red Cross Blood Bank in our community. Let's make sure blood will be available when it is needed, let's meet our shared commu nity responsibility —when the Bloodmobile is at the First Baptist Chinch in Spruce Pine between 12 noon and 6 p. m. on August 9 and at the ArmoFy in Burnsville between 1 and 6 p.m. on August 11 (Wed.). The goal is 100 pints both visits. Give one pint of blood so that blood will be available for all of us. We will all be grateful!
