Lucinda Scott, 91, of the Prices Creek Commu nity, died at her home on Wednesday morning after a short illness. She was the wife of the late James Scott who died in 1956. Surviving are three daugh ters, Mis. Welzie Chrisawn and Mrs. Huey Ball of Burns ville Route 3 and Mrs. Mack Honeycutt of Leicester, N.C.; six sons, Herschel, George, Noah and Carl Scott of Burns ville, Clyde Scott of Wood fin, N.C. and Wayne Scott of New York; one sister,Mrs. Lewie Ledford of Burnsville; 35 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Frances Radford and Rev. Ellis Ray officiated and bur- I ial was in the Scott Ceme - I tery. OSSIE COATES BALL I Mrs. Cfcsie Coates 8a11,71 of the Banks Creek Section died in a Burnsville hospital Saturday afternoon after a short illness. She was the widow of James W.Ball who died November 24th. Surviving are a daughter Mb, Willard R.Hall and a son, J. R. Ball, both of Spartanburg, S.C, ; four sis ters, Mrs. Alvin Anglin of Burnsville, Mrs. Merritt Hensley of Charlotte, Mrs. Rinthey Craine of Johnson City, Tenn., and Ms. Gro ver Hipps of Appomattox, and two brothers, James W, of Pamplin, Va. and Jay L, 1 Coates of Clearwater, Florida and three grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 2soo p. m. Monday in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Buchanan and the Rev. Harry Cmlbertson, Jr. officiated aid burial was in the Ball Cemdery. Ed King of Burnsville and the late Mr. King. Surviving in addition to the mother are the wife, Re becca Silvers King; a son, Tom King of Rocky Mount, HC.; a sister, Mrs. Kath leen Moen oflos Ange les, California; three brothers, Claude King of Gastonia, Hugh and Norman King of Littlestown, Pa. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sundayin the Chapel of Holcombe Bro thels Funeral Home. Rev. Harold McDonald officiated and burial was in McCrack en Cemetery. Following this story, Miss Theresa Co letta and the children decor ated their Christmas tree for their party with Mrs. Santa. He was a native of Yancey County and a retired miner and construction worker. Surviving are the wife, Hattie Hughes Wyatt and a daughter, Mrs. R. L. Allen of Route 2, Burnsville; one sister, Mb. Effie Parker of Detroit, Mich.; three bro thers, Arvle of Micaville and Lee and Lattie Wyatt of Spruce Pine; five grandchil dren also survive. This book by Mb. Joan Reeve is the moving story of a young boy who runs away from home. Two preview books by this author- The Mystify ing Twins and The Secret of the Mystifying Twins, pub lished in 1960 and 1961- have now sold around 85/XX) copies. Mb. Reeve first started writing at the age of 8 or 9, but did not take it up serious ly till she was blessed with beginner's luck when, after an overland trip from Japan to England, her article "Across Siberia" was sold the first time out. Since then numerous stories by Mrs. Reeve have been printed in Sunday School papers; but now she has found that she really prefers to write bools.
