TOW Join United Way Kickoff Girl Scouts Meet Cadette Girl Scout Troop 65 met on September 28th at the Yancey Library. Mrs. Patti McCall’s needlepoint exhibit provided the setting for instructions in needlepoint by Mrs. McCall and Mrs. Georgia Cannon, leaders. Donna Braithwaite served refreshments as the Cadettes assembled for the meeting. Mrs. McCall answered questions about her needle point designs and showed the girls examples of Chinese, Philippine, and Mexican needlework. Then the girls had an opportunity to try designing and working with needlepoint canvas and plas tic. This is part of the Textile Arts badge for Cadettes. Donna Braithwaite, Shar on McClure, Tanis Wilson, Bee Young, Lisa Shepherd, Kim and Sharon Yuziuk, Joy Bennett, Leanne McCurry Bertha Barnes and Alecia Lee attended this meeting at Yancey Library. These girls were reminded of the N.C. Dancers’ Rehearsal and were invited to partici pate in the October 1 United Way Kickoff. The following adults have registered with Cadette Troop 65 forming a Troop Commit tee: Mrs. Peggy Shepherd, Chairman; Mrs. Louise Mc- Clure, Jylrs.
