RAY (Editor’s note: Ms. Ray will be writing a column for the Yancey Journal periodically to give and to seek information in her search for ancestors). There is a saying, “Do not live in the past” but it is good for us to look back and realize sacrifices that our forefathers made for us. We can learn humility, some inspirations and have pride in our heritage. We are indeed obligated to those that have gone on before us and made possible what we are today. Anyone that is interested in researching for progenitors, I will be glad to help in any way that I can, free of charge. It is an interesting hobby and we should leave a history for our children. Although they may not be interested now, there will come a time when they will be. How I wish someone of my forefathers had left a history of the family... Call me at 682-2831 and give me your ancestors’ date of birth, name, where born and married, and I will help you get started on your search.
