He was a native of Chat tanooga, Tenn. and a summer resident of the Cattail Creek community in Yancey County for about 40 years. He had lived in Vero Beach for 24 years. His wife, Mary M. Haeger died in 1961. Surviving are three daughters, Marie Miller and Esther Whiteley of Vero Beach and Rebecca Toliver of Dayton, Tenn.; two sons, James S. Haeger of Vero Beach and George H. Haeger of Fort Myers, Fla.; 15 grand children and 14 great gran dchildren. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holcombe Cemetery in Burns ville. Rev. Mike Shuford of ficiated. Feb. 4,1982 ch HOSA Club Participates Leicester, Christina Sergeant of Mundelein, Ill., and Clementine Garrett of Mar shall; a brother, Arthur Presnell of Leicester; three sisters, Maude and Nellie Boone of Marshall and Nola Anders of Williamsport, Tenn.; 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home with Revs. Jimmy Buckner and Champ Rice of ficiating. Burial was in Bowman-Rector Cemetery. Florence Barksdale Edith FoUett Austin M. Presnell, 88, of Marshall died Monday evening in an Asheville healtti care center after an extended Edith Hensley FoUett, 93, of 85 Tremont ^t., AsheviUe, died Friday in an AsheviUe nursing home after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Ar mstrong and Mary Jane Sparks Hensley and the wife of George Ervin FoUett who died Florence McIntosh Barks dale, 90, of Charlotte died Friday at the home of a daughter. A native of South CaroUna and a resident of Charlotte for 70 years, she was the wife of Beverly E. Barksdale, who died in 1970. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Grover Boyd of BumsviUe, with whom she made her home; Mrs. George S. Wyant of Spartanburg, S.C., and Mrs. Walter H. Kellen of Charlotte; a son, H. WilUam Barksdale of Charlotte; two sister^, LiUius McIntosh and Lottie Butler of Charlotte; 24 grandchUdren and 23 great grandchUdren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, Charlotte. In Project The HOSA Club’s nation wide project for the 1981-82 year is “Diabetes MeUitus.” Clubs aU over the country wiU be doing their part in the diabetes project. Those who have abnormal thirst, frequent urination, or who break out in a sweat without apparent cause are asked to come to the Health Occupations room at Moun tain Heritage (if a student). A simple test wiU be done to determine if you are a diabetic. Apply Now For McClure Scholarships AppUcations for the James McClure Scholarship Program are now available in the guidance office at Moun tain Heritage High School. The objective of this program is to aid financiaUy deserving and academicaUy promising residents of Western North Carolina to enter coUege. Evidence of Christian character, the desire to be of service tn r«np'.i fellow men. academic performance and financial need are considered in choosing the recipients of these funds. Mrs. Elaine Thomas, guidance counselor, urges each senior who feels he/she may meet the qualifications and who plans to enter college or technical school next year to apply for this program. Ap plications are now available in the guidance office. Students Honored The HOSA Club will be trying their best to par ticipate, learn, and in some way contribute to the worthy cause of diagnosis and treat ment of Diabetes MeUitus. He was a Yancey County native, but had Uved most of his life in Madison County. He was a member of Laurelton Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired farmer and blacksmith. He was a son of the late Frank and Delilah Thomas PresneU. Surviving are his wife, Stella Rice PresneU; two sons, McDonald PresneU of Mars HiU and Eldridge PresneU of Farmington, Minn.; six daughters, Geneva Taylor of MarshaU, Bernice Payne of WeaverviUe, Jessie Norton of Mars HiU, Ruby Parham of Surviving are three daughters, MUdred Frazier, Juanita Sprinkle and Winifred Crowder, all of Asheville; three sons, Harry FoUett of Westminster, Md., and George and the Rev. WiUiam FoUett of Asheville; two sisters, Hattie Anglin of Bur- nsviUe and Bertha Lee Boone of Bryson City; 16 gran dchildren, 23 great gran dchildren and three great great grandchUdren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Revs. Ebb Jenkins and Perry Crane officiating. Burid was in Pisgah View Cemetery at Candler.
