THE YANCEY JOURNAL, February 4,1982, Page 7 Frank Cifaldi Wins Horseshoe Contest FRANK CIFALDI Frank Cifaldi of Route 2, Burnsville traveled to Nash ville, Tennessee to compete in the 1982 Tennessee State Championship Horseshoeing and Forging contest on January 30. The classes in cluded the making of different types of horseshoes, forge welding and forge brazing and shoeing on quarter horses. Competitors came from Florida, Massachusetts, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and North Carolina. Contestants accumulated points in each class, and the overall winner was the 1982 champion. Frank ac cumulated the most points and won the Tennessee Champion ship. Also, a few months ago Frank Cifaldi won the 1981 North Carolina-Virginia Star Championship. ^^',1111' iiTiiitfiii-i Jttiji DAVID AND JOSHUA BANKS Brothers Celebrate Joshua Brian Banks celebrated his first birthday on January 15. Wins First In Canning Competition Carolyn Blevins, daughter of Don and Louise Blevins of South Toe, has won first place in the young-teen division of the district canning com petition. This is the third year that Carolyn has won district honors. She is 13 years old and attends Arthur Morgan School in Celo. Carolyn is shown holding her award, a silver dish.
