Palmer, 87. of Murphy died Sacuday night, August 19, In a Murphy hospital after a brief Illness. Mr. Palmer, a native of Cherokee County was a son of the las Thomas and Elizabeth H us kins Palmer. He had served aa a blacksmith here from early manhood until his retirement in 1954 when he operated the last blacksmith shop In Murphy. He was s member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Gladys Hinton of Murphy four sons, Tom and Ben of Murphy. John of Ashevllle, and Wilson of Knoxvtlle, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Charity Fiah of Andrews; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. In Murphy Firs tBsp tist Church. The Rev. William J. Thompson and the Rev. C. A. Smith officiated, and burial was in Peach tree Cemetery. A native of Murphy, Mrs. Dickson was a daughter of the late Dr. Ben J. and Elizabeth Abernathv Mayfield. She was a life long member of the First Methodist Church of Murphy. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, in First Methodist Church. The Rev. C. F. Womhle and the Rev. C. A. Smith officiated and burial was in the Old Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim The Cherokee Scout VE7-2222 Murphy, N.C. Coleman Reunion The Coleman reunion was held on Sunday, August 13, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coleman on Hiwassee Street. The oldest member present was Joe Coleman who Is 85 years old, and the young est was the granddaughter of Mark Moore of Blalrsvllle, 'who is three months old. Around 108 attended the event. The reunion has been held for the past four or five years at the home of Mr. Coleman, with the exception of one year when it was at Vogel Lake.
