Moody, local Health and Sanitation officer spoke to the group and presented recent findings of a sanitation survey conducted by local, state and federal employees of the Health Department and solicited the cooperation o( the club In working to make a cleaner Murphy. Mrs. Francis Bourne Jr., president had charge of the short business session at which time plans were completed for the Holiday House to be held on Sunday, December 10 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerue Babb. November 13, 1961 for the j purpose of organizing a Spanish Club. The meeting was called to ! order by Mr. Stowe, Spanish instructor. Elections were held and the following officers were elected: P resident. Linda; Boring; Vice - president, Johnny Cook; Secretary Treasurer, Linda Loudermllk. H. Arrowood In Germany Fulda, Germany Specialist Five Hubert Arrowood son of G. W. Arrowood, Route I, Andrews, N. C., recently achieved recognition as a top Army marksman by qualifying for the expert marksmanship badge during range firingwith the Army's new M-14 rifle in Fulda, Germany. The M-14 which is being issued to Army units in Ger many, will replace the M-l rifle, carbine, Browning automatic rifle and M-3sub machlne gun. The new rifle Is lighter than the M-l.packs the fire power of a light machinegun, and fires the standard 7.62 - millimeter NATO cartridge. The 32-year-old soldier a helicopter mechanic in the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment's Aviation Company In Fulda, entered the Army in May 1949 and was las* stationed at Fort Bragg,N.C.
