Ben Mann of Marble, Mrs. Roy Hughes of Murphy, Mrs. Joseph Evans ol Atwater, Ohio, and Mrs. E. A. Euei of Akron, Ohio. He was <1 native of Graham County, a son of the late hack and Rachel Shuler. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Howell Shuler; three sons. Earl, Frank, and Jack, all of Robbinsville; one t fer daughter, Mr^. Lois Holland of Robbinsville; one sister, Mrs. Delia Jenkins of Blue Ridge, Ga.; five grand children and three great grandchildren. Tovimsori Funeral Home was in charge. Girl Scouts E ntertained At Bourne Home MURPHY - The Cadet Girl Scout Troop of 7th and 8tti grade girls met in the home of Mrs. F. C. Bourne, Jr., Monday afternoon, Dec. 16, for punch. Mrs. B. W. Whit field, Mrs. H. A. Mattox, and Mrs. Hans Beerkens were co hostesses. The home was decorated within keeping of Christmas. The tea table was covered with a white cloth and cen tered with a low bowl of mix ed flowers and flanked by two crystal candle holders with , red lighted tapers. A crystal punch bowl was used. Mrs. Whitfield poured punch, assisted by Mrs. Mat tox and Mrs. Beerkens. Mrs. Whitfield and Mrs. Mattox have been instructing the girls in flower arrange ments sponsored by the Mur phy Garden Club. Cther guests attending re sides the Girl Scouts were Mrs. Paul Nave, First Aid instructor, and Mrs. Larry |Black, their leader. Approximately fifteen at tended. ^rs. Lloyd Black President 01 3rape Creek HD Club MURPHY - Grape Creek Home Demonstration Club held the annual Christmas meeting in the home of Mrs. Lloyd Black on Thursday p.m. at 1:00. The home was decorated with holly and Christmas wreaths with a lighted tree in one corner of the room. Mrs. E. J. Grier presided in the absence of the presi dent. IXiring business Mrs. Black was elected president of the Club. Mrs. Grier an nounced that the club would bring clothing for Broughton Hospital at their January meeting. Miss Wheeler, Home Ec onomics Agent, was in charge of the program and passed out Christmas booklets to the group. A tribute to John F. Kennedy waspaidby the group. Miss Wheeler also report ed on the Community Develop ment meeting she attended in Ashevtlle. During the social hour gifts were exchanged and the door prize was drawn by Mrs. Nel lie Atwood. The hostess, as sisted by Mrs. Grier, served refreshments to Mrs. Wesley Baker, Mrs. John Smart, Jr., Mrs. Rollin Taylor, Mrs. Nelda McDonald, Miss Thelma Wheeler and Nancy and Be linda Smart.
