His training will consist of training in maintenance of lawn mowers, chain saws, out board engines, motorcycles and motor scooters, and all 2 and 4 cycle air-cooled en gines. Mr. Tanner is the son of Mrs. J. A. Tanner of Route 2, Murphy and is married to the former Miss Reba Lochaby of Route X, Murphy. He has been attending this school for eight months and will receive his diploma for small engine mechanics in March, 1965. Prior to entering school Mr. Tanner worked for White head Chain Saw Co. Fargos To Meet Monsters In Wrestling Match Here MURPHY - Either the Black Monsters will be unmasked Saturday night, July p8, or Jackie and Don Fargo will lose their hair. This will take place at the Old Rock Gym where the Mur phy Jaycees will sponsor a big all-star wrestling card headlined by a return match between these two titans of wrestling. Matchmakers Nick Gulas, Roy Welch, and Harry Thornton have arranged for a barber to be sutioned at ring side to cut the hair of Jackie and Don if they lose. But if the Fargos win, they naturally will have the honor of un masking the Monsters. The match is expected to be a bruising affair and was sign ed on a no time limit, no dis qualification basis, which as sures fans of seeing the masks or hair fall. The first match on the card featuring six of the top TV wrestling stars in the game will find Slim of the famous Scufflin' Hillbillies meeting Rocky Cookson. Pvt. William Chastali Completes Field Crewman Course FORT JACKSON, S. C. Army Pvt. William B. Chas , tain, son of Mr. and Mrs. I Boyd Chastain, Route 2, Mur phy, completed a field com munication crewman course July 9 at Fort Jackson, S. C. ( Chastain was trained in wire , laying, message center ope ration, and switchboard ope ration. He entered the Army last February and completed basic training at Fort Gordon, Ga. The 23-year-old soldier is a 1959 graduate of Murphy High School. Donny C. Felts On Duty At Whiting Air Station J MILTON, FLA. - Donny C. Felts, airman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton D. Felts of 1821 Colo nial Avenue, Henderson, N. C. has reported for duty with the Training Squadron Three at Whiting Field Naval Auxiliary Air Station, Milton, Fla. The squadron trains student Naval aviators in the radio instrument and formation tac tics phases of their flight training. Jerry B. McDonald Is Crewmember On USS Meredith USS MEREDITH - Jerry B McDonald, radarman seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen McDonald of Route 1, Murphy, N. C., is a crew member of the Navy destroyer USS Meredith with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. Meredity normally operates as a unit of an anti-submarine "Hunter-Killer" group com posed of surface, sub-marine and air units designed to find and destroy enemy sub marines. He will have an opportunity to visit ports in Italy, France and Spain while In the Medi terranean.
