Miss McClure Gets Shower Friends of Miss Donna Med tire honored her with a shower at the Oak Forest Methodist Church Nov. 27. She is the bride elect of Keith Crawford. She was presented with a corsage of white carnations. Miss Susan White and Miss Linda Bell had charge of the game session. A color scheme of yellow, green and white was used. The table was overlaid with a white linen cloth. The punch bowl was surrounded with greenry. White Extension Dinner The Murphy Home Extension Club held its annual Christmas dinner at the home of Mrs. Ruby Hill on Thursday evening, Dec. 3. After dinner gifts were exchanged by the following presenters. C.L. Alverson, Mrs. James Hughes, Mrs. Charles Hughes, Misses Kate and Leila Hayes, Miss Hattie Palmer and guests Mr. and Mrs. L W. Shields. wedding bells flowers, and candles were used on the table and throughout the social hall. Refreshments of individual cakes topped with yellow rosebuds, mints, nuts and punch were served to guests who attended. Clay Sends Eight For Examination On Monday December 7, eight registrants of Local Board No. 22 Clay County, were forwarded to the Knoxville Station for armed forces physical examination. They were: Dwight Evan Moss, Arthur Herman Moss, Charales Nolan Huffman, Arnold Marvin Monkus, Daniel Monroe Wilson, Lanny Gregory Teems, Floyd Anderson and Wayne Allison. The board was not required to deliver any registrants for induction during the month of December. EDWARD MARTIN DAVIDSON, a cadet captain and senior at Pennsylvania Military College, has been included in "Who's Who Among American Universities ad and Colleges." He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. Davidson of Lancaster, Pa. and the grandson of Mrs. Jerry W. Davidson of Murphhy. Presbyterian Women Hold Annual Party ine women of the Presbyterian Church held their annual Christmas party on Monday evening, Dec. 7, in the Westminster Hall of the church. Hostesses were Mrs. Vernle Junior 4-H'ers Elect Officers Joe Little of the Peach tree Junior 4-H Club was elected president at the regular meeting of the club on Monday night, Nov. 30. Other officers elected to serve in 1971 were: vicepresident, Diane Stiles; secretary-treasurer, Janet roust; reporter, Dixie West. Kathy Lunsfordand Patty Little were selected to serve as junior leaders in the club, then divided into groups and discussed projects they would like to work on in the new year. The meeting was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Little. Refreshments were served to: Diane Stiles, Dixie West, Janet and Mike Foust, Albert dongs, Barbara Sneed, Belinda Carroll, Daryl Burnett, Joe and Jackie Little, Bryan Clayton, Kathy Lunsford, Patty Little and Miss Nancy Lunsford, leader. Plans were made and a committee appointed to work on the Christmas party to be held on Dec. 18. Also, the boys are making plans for an possum hunt sometime in December. Guild Holds Christmas Dinner The Wesleyan Services Guild held its annual Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Duke Whitley with Misses Kate and Leila Hayes as co hostesses. Following the dinner, Mrs. Lucius Lochaby, president resided over the business, Mrs. Wayne Watson gave the program on "Dare We Talk About Keeping Christmas". Cherokee Sends 3 For Induction The Cherokee County Selective Service Board has sent three men for induction into the armed forces and 10 for physical examinations. Inducted Monday were Jefford Jackson, Jerry M. Rowland and James D. Lance. Sent for physicals were Daniel Cross, Michael W. Thaxton, Frank S. Bryant, Gardner B. Mash burn, Hayden Davenport, Charles R. Trantham, Olen D. Chastain, James A. Messer, Howard S. Orton and Dane Parker.
