INNES ST., SALISBURY - DIAL 633-5491 Book Sales Slated Two book fairs are scheduled at Andrews, one on Saturday for the benefit of the elementary school library and one next week at the high school. The book fair for the elementary school will be held from 9 Saturday morning until noon, in the parking lot of the A&P store. Books to go on sale are suitable for grades 1-6, priced under $4. The school library will share in the profits of the sale but it is hoped that many school patrons will buy a book and then donate it to the library. According to school officials, the library in the elementary school had 5,094 books before the fire last January. It now has only about 80 books. The book fair at the high school is sponsored by the Beta Qub and will run Monday through Friday. It will be held in the school library and will be open to the public. The high school library will be open from 8 a.m. until 10 pjn. on Monaay and from 8 until 4 pjn. the rest of the week. Hospital Gets Check Edmund A. Waller, vice president and trust officer of the First National Bank of Gainesville, is shown presenting a check for $5,000 to Guy Puett, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Towns County Hospital. Steve Holmes, hospital administrator, aand board members B.H. Abbotty, L.J. Nichols and Bob Anderson are shown looking on. The check is thefirst distribution of income to the Towns County Hospital from the Sparks Fund, a foundation established by the late Mrs. W.O. Sparks for the benefit of the Hospital. The Gainesville bank is trustee of th foundation. The foundation wa: established by Mrs. Sparks prior t* her death last October to provide ai adequate and competent nursing staf for the Towns County Hospital. An} excess funds may be utilized by th< board of trustees of the hospital foi acquiring equipment or providing scholarships for worthy nursing students. Mrs. Sparks was a lifetim* resident of Hiawassee, and hei husband was one of the origina founders of the Towns Count) Hospital. Hospital Employes To Get Smallpox Shots District Memorial Hospital ttun the recommendations of the National Program for the Vaccination of Hospital Workers against Smallpox, is offering free vaccination to all tall and part-time employees during March 1971. The Tri County Health Department is furnishing the vaccine. The program is in cooperation by the AHA and the Communicable Disease Center U.S. Public Health Service. It is possihle for a case of smallpox or any disease to be brought to the hospital Arep Men In Service OBNER MANGRAM Navy Chief Petty Officer Obner Mangram, husband of Mrs. Claudette Mangram of Murphy, is serving aboard the San Diego based attack aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk presently on an extended deployment to the Western Pacific. JOHN ROGERS Sgt. John l Rogers of Murphy, is a member of the Aerospace Rescue and ReoDTCry Training Center staff at Eghn AFB, Fla., that has earned the VS. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Sgt. Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Rogers, is an aircraft mechanic at the center that serves as the backbone of the An- Force's global lif esa vine (AKRS). Angel of Anta-ewei has been decorated with his second award of the VS. Air Force Commendation Medal at Oaig AFB, Ala. Sgt.
