lion goal so far.
Guilford College Chemistry
Department, Greensboro, has received
a variety of analytical laboratory equip
ment valued at $6,000 from
Stockhausen Incorporated that will be
used by students in several laboratory
courses.
Lenoir-Rhyne College Department of
Nursing, $4,000 from N.C.
Governor's Institute on Alcohol and
Substance Abuse, Inc. which will
enable nursing department to take part
in pilot nursing faculty development
program. Grant will be used to train
faculty and integrate substance abuse
and addiction programming into their
courses. College also received
$97,732 from Michael Peeler Fund of
the N.C. Synod of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America in support
of its new Sacred Music Program.
Louisburg College, $200,000 from
First Citizens Bank as part of the
College's 1995-96 Annual Fund
Campaign. First Citizens donated
$100,000 to campaign with under
standing if College raised $200,000
in additional unrestricted dollars before
December 1996, the Bank would give
another $100,000. Louisburg met the
challenge in August.
Methodist College, Fayetteville,
$300,000 challenge grant from
Kresge Foundation of Troy, Ml toward
construction of addition to Davis
Memorial Library. Grant is contingent
upon college raising approximately
$1.4 million by December 1, 1997,
the amount needed to reach a $6.5
million goal for college's "Expanding
the Vision" capital campaign.
PLAYSPACE, $25,000 from City of
Raleigh for general relocation/expan
sion purposes; $25,000 from Wake
Medical Center for sponsorship and
collaboration in design of Health Area;
$1,000 from Junior Woman's Club of
Raleigh to be used for sponsorship of
its next Free Family Day.
