Pfgf 4-MOUNT HOLLY NEWS. Friday. Mar. 24. 1950 Mrs. Joe L. Wright Fetes Bridge Club Mrs. Joe L. Wright entertained her bridge club at a lovely des sert bridge party Friday afternoon at her residence on Summit Ave nue. The party started at 2:30 in the afternoon and a lovely des sert course with coffee was serv ed to the guests by the hostess. Beautiful arrangements of vari colored gladioli and snapdragons were throughout the home. Dur ing the bridge progressions, cokes, cookies, and mints were enjoyed by all the guests. The members present were Mrs. Charles R. Holtzclaw, Mrs. Rich ard Scott, Mrs. Frank McKinney^ Mrs. Bill Crist, Mrs. Leo Fuller, Mrs. Joe Jones, Mrs. Eunice Rob inson, Mrs. David Mason, and Mrs. Dick Thompson of Stanley. Guests who were in attendance were Mrs. Ward Rhyne and Mrs. Frank Rankin. At the completion of the bridge progressions, the scores were com piled and high prize went to Mrs. Bill Crist, second high to Mrs. David Mason, and the bingo a- ward went to Mrs. Joe Jones. The beginning of Spring finds Pamela Jean Pryor proud ly displaying a new polka dot pinafore and bolero. Mrs. Clegg Hostess To Local Book Club On Friday afternoon, Mrs. C. S. Clegg was hostess at her home on the Belmont Road to the Book Club of Mount Holly. Spring flowers decorated the rooms. Mrs. Don Howell, the former Virginia Stroupe of this place, was the guest speaker at this time. Mrs. Howell discussed Spring Faxons, giving very informative ways and means for doing over old clothes to make them look like new, as well as showing how ac cessories can change your entire costume. Mrs. Clegg, who is the club president, conducted the business meeting. After the business ses sion and the guest speaker, a lovely salad course was served by the hostess. Those present were Mrs. James L. Darenport, Mrs. James H. Ware, Mrs. E. W. Connell, Mrs. O. E. Massey, Mrs. Carl H. Fish er, Mrs. L. S. Clark, Mrs. Ivon L. Roberts, Mrs. Emmett Rawlins, and Miss Topsey Dunn. VISIT ON SUNDAY Miss Corrinne Puett, Mrs. Car rie Lewis and Miss Elizabeth Lewis visited Misses Emma and Edith Holland and Mrs. Violet Sunday afternoon. VISITS DAUGHTER Mrs. Charles A. Taylor spent the weekend in Charlotte with her daughter, Mrs. Kelly Lewis, Mr. Lewis and children at their home on 308 Sedgefield Road. IN RALEIGH , Mrs. C. S. Clegg spent the weekend in Raleigh, going espec ially to see her daughter, Miss Mary Ann Clegg, a student at St. Mary’s. Mrs. Crist Hostess To Thursday Bridge Club Mrs. W. F,^ Crist, Jr., entertain ed the Thursday Evening Bridge Club at her home on Cavin Street last week. The party was for the members of this group and every one gathered at eight in the eve ning. Those present were Mrs. Ted C. Johnson, Mrs. J. B. Thompson, Mrs. Tom Holland, Mrs. Maxwell Hoyle, Mrs. John Calder, Mrs. Dick Thompson of Stanley, Mrs. Dave Smith, and Mrs. Courtland Hurt. When the progressions were over, prizes were awarded to Mrs. Courtland Hurt for the floating prize, high score to Mrs. Tom Holland, and the bingo award to Mrs. Maxwell Hoyle. A lovely dessert course was served by the hostesses, carrying out the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Green punch, small cakes with shamrocks on them, and green cookies were served to the guests. The occasion was a delightful bridge party. Spring flowers were attractively placed throughout the home, and at the conclusion of play, a salad course was served by the hostess. Those playing were Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. McKinney, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Ware, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jones, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Crist, and Mrs. J. J. Holland, Mrs. Charles R. Holtzclaw, and Mr. A. W. BelL Prizes in bridge were given to Mrs. J. J. Holland and Mr. James H. Ware. The Borrmann's were given a lovely honor gift by the hosts. liOcal Ladies Attend Duke University Show Mrs. George Craig and Ann Craig attended the annual Hoof and Horn show staged by stud ents at Duke University last Thurs^ay and Friday nights and again Monday night of this week before capacity audiences. Bette Craig, a student at Duke Univer sity and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig, was a member of the dance team in the show, which was rat ed one of the best ever produced by the student body of that school. Miss Craig, a freshman at the university, was an honor stud ent at the Mount Holly High School and is attending the uni versity on a scholarship which was awarded her on the basis of her excellent scholastic . record here. HERE FOR WEEKEND Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Craig and Allen Craig of Chapel Hill spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Craig. The Messrs. Craig, sons of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Craig, are students at the Uni versity of North Carolina. HOME FOR VACATION J. Milton Craig, Jr., a student at McCallie School, Chattanooga, Tenn., is spending spring holi days here with his parents.
