Hawks Game — (Continued from Ptge One) and did not make a single first down against the locals. Hawk running offense looked good but the passing attack which the Hawks innaugurated early in the game failed completely. Several times the Hawks threatened Cramerton’s goal but defense tightened down until the only score was made late in the game as the Hawks* pushed across their single tally with Ted Waldrop go ing through the line to score, Hartsell, unlike Cramerton was last week, is big and tough, and the Hawks can , look forward. to a rough time unless they hit their stride early. in the game tonight. An early game advance against the opponents usually puts the Hawks in good form for the rest of the evening and coaches are hoping they will get underway with a bang tonight. Hartsell defeated the Hawks last year 13-0 and Coach Max Beam said this week that the Hawks particularily have their eyes set on avenging this defeat. The Hawk line will be in good shape for the game unless injuries occur late this week and if they maintain the pace they set last week, with every linesman de serving a star for action, they should give the visitors a hard time. Backfield injuries are few and the usual starting lineup will CpL Jack Caldwell, son of Mrs. Flora Caldwell, Mount Holly, N. C., left August 14th for his third trip overseas. He was active in the civic life of community and was deeply inter ested in building a better Mount Holly. During his later years; he operated his own real estate busi ness which took a great deal of his time. His interest in the people here resulted in many home-own ers in and around Mount Holly. He spent many hours each week aiding families here in obtaining finances, and on many, many oo casions failed to charge any com mission in order to help a person become an owner of his own home. His sole source of pleasure came from being of assistance and serving his friends and his church. Many citizens in this area have lost a true friend in the death of Mr. Howard. The Town of Mount Holly has lost one of the pillars of the foundation of the communi-* ty. The church has lost a true and valued servant but friends take solace in the fact that Claude Howard has gone to well-earned rest and a life of eternity with his Creator whom he loved so well. His work, his deeds and his Christian spirit remain in the memories of all who knew him as permanent monument to a life that grew, blossomed and was plucked from a garden of good will and love, plucked while he was active as he would have wanted it. Born December 15, 1885 in Lincoln County, Mr. Howard was a son of the late Henry A. and Margaret Barkley Howard, and had lived in this community for 49 years. From 1907 to 1936 he was in the merchantile business here, and upon his retirement from active business he operated a real estate agency from his home here until his death. For more than 25 years he was a stew ard and a trustee of First Metho dist Church, and for a number of years was chairman of the board of stewards. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at First Methodist Church, with the pastor. Rev. Ivon I,. Roberts, of ficiating, assisted by Rev. J. G.
