J called the greatest drama of the
i twentieth century.”
That is the opinion of Maxwell
Anderson, one of America’s noted
1 playwrights, whose fine apptrecia
tion of dramatic situation and tech
nique is testified by the long list of
hits in his own name, chief among
which are “Both Your Houses,” for
Iwhr'ch he won the 1933 Pulitzeir
Drama Prize, “Mary of Scotland”
and “Winterset.” And it is the
opinion of many critics in many
countries that Sean O’Casey, author
of “The Plough and the Stars,”
stands out as one of the great play
wrights of the post-world war pe
riod.
An Irishman born and bred, who
lived through the terrors which the
film depicts, Sean O’Casey has risen
high for his ability to blend the
humor and tragedy of Gael and
Ireland as no other writer can.
The Plough and the Stars” dis
plays this ability and most bril
liant peak, and the screen version,
as directed by John Ford, winner
of the Academy award for his work
on “The Informer,” is said to give
! film-goers an entire new slant on
Irish humor, while driving home a
moving story of tragedy-threaten
ed romance in strife-torn Dublin.
The cast of “The Plough and the
Stars,” which takes its title from
the emblem on the flag of the Irish
Civilian Army features Preston

Gene Durnal and his famous Ran
gers from the Rio Grande Valley
ere coming to the Dolly Madison

hear from the stage, that are dear
to the hearts of every red-blooded
westerner.
The unit is composed of a talent
