Mrs. G. I. Prillaman delightfully
entertained her club at her home
on South Main Street.
Contract bitidge was played at
two tables for sometime. Mrs. Lan
dan Harvey received club high
score prize and Mrs. P. L. Thomas
received visitor’s high score prize.

Tuesday Night Club
Mrs. H. M. Beam was hostess to
the Tuesday night club at her home
on Lamar Street, Tuesday.

ted the room in which three tables
were placed for contract bridge.
After six progressions were en
joyed, the scores were tallied and
Mrs. B. B. Strum was awarded the
club high prize, Miss Isabel deVlam
ing was awarded the visitor’s prize
and Mrs. O. Z. Gentry was awarded
the traveling prize.
A sweet course with nuts was
served.

I Missionary Society,
The Woman’s Missionary Society
of Hurdle Mills Methodist Church
met with Mrs. D. L. Whitfield on
Feb. 10, 1937. The meeting was cal
led to order by the president, Mrs.
N. D. Harris. A hymn, “I Love to
Tell the Story” was sung and ths
Scripture Reading “The Godly Man”
First Psalm was read by Mrs. Dic
kerson followed by a prayer by
Mrs. Joe Whitfield. The roll called
and dues collected by the treasu
rer, Mrs. D. L. Whitfield and the
minutes of the last meeting read by
the secretary, Mrs. R. H. Baynes.
The motion was made to send $5
to the Red Cross and it was also
decided to go on with the same of
ficers for the ensuring year.
Two interesting talks were made
by Miss Helen Melton and Miss
Melba O’Briant, the first was an
account of a Methodist Conference
in China by Mrs. B. W. Lipscomb
and the latter talked on “Prayer
for Missionaries.” The Society was
invited to hold the next meeting at
the home of Mrs. Dixie Long. The
meeting was dismissed by prayer
by Miss Melton.
At the close of the meeting the
hostess served fru'ts.

Philip Bowen At Cottonwood
Philip Rfowen lefffc Monday for
Cottonwood, Alabama, where he
will undergo treatment at Sealy’s
Hot Salt Mineral Well, where it is
hoped that he will be cured. He was
confined to his home for several
months where he had been recru
perating from wounds inflicted by
an exploding gun.
Mr. Carl Bowen, father of Philip,
with his mother, accompanied him
to Cottonwood, where Mr. Bowen
will spend several weeks with him
while his mother will stay the en
tire period with Philip.

Troop 49 Met Last Night
Boy Scout Troop 49 met last night
at the Community House. The boys
visited the new scout hut that is
now under construction and then
spent a large part of the evening
on First Aid.
Clyde Whitt passed his tender
foot test and was received into the
troop.
Gus Deering visited the boys du
ring this meeting.
