Judge Hubert C. Jarvis of Ashe ville was the principal speaker and short addresses were made by J. C. Melton and Fred and Carl Duckett. Clarance Stevens was in charge of arrangements. Several tributes were paid to H. A Coggins, who passed away since the last picnic, and who for many years took an active part in staging the annual affair. In 1939 this country imported 6,225 tons of vegetable ivory from South America to be used in but- Col. Dean F. Winn Now In Command At The Moore General Hosp. Col. Dean F. Winn, of Macon, Ga., assumed command of Moore General hospital as successor to Col. Samuel W. Browne, who serv ed as commander since the death of Col. Frank W. Wilson in April and was recently relieved owing ill health. Col. Winn, a veteran of 28 years of army service in both World Wars and came to Moore General I hospital from England General hospital, Atlantic City, N, J.,, where he was also commanding officer.
