JOHN BENNETT SPEAKS TO GUILD Mrs. John Bennett, executive secretary of the Family and Child ren’s Service, one of the Red Feather services of Buncombe county, discussed the work of that organization to members of the Wesleyan Guild at their meeting held Monday evening in the Fel lowship room of the Methodist church. The guild voted to sponsor a nursery during church services from eleven until twelve o’clock. Mrs. Ruth Cunningham and Mrs. Dempsey Whitaker are co-chair men of this project. Those present were Mrs. Ruth Cunningham, Mrs. A. W. Mc- Dougle, Mrs. J. G. Northcott, Mrs. Dempsey Whitaker, Mrs. Stanley Garland, Mrs. Gilmer Weatherly, Mrs. J. L. Holman, Jr., Mrs. Frances King, Mrs. J. W. Gibbs, Mrs. R. L. Ownbey, Mrs. William Hickey, Miss. Riddle entertained with a birthday party in honor of her daughter, Melba and Bar bara, at her home on Montreat road. Mrs. Dinsmore Crawford help ed with the yames. Refreshments of cup cakes each decorated with a candle, ice cream, a fruit drink, and a basket of nuts were served. Crickets were given as favors. CIRCLE ONE HOLD MEETING Circle One of the Presbyterian church met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Good son. An interesting program on the “Salt of the Earth’’ was given by Mrs. M. C, Burnette and Mrs. D. R. Freeman. The next meeting of the group will be in the form b of a picnic supper at the home of Mrs. Tom Sharp. Those present were Mrs. A. W. Austin, Mrs. M. C. Van Cleave, Tennessee’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Col. and Mrs. Tom McCord of Montgomery, Alabama, all relatives of Mrs. R. E. Mum power. They were entertained with a dinner at her home here, Friday evening. Gov. McCord addressed the elders of the session of the Gen eral Assembly at Montreat Fri day night. o MRS. BITTINGER HOSTESS TO’ OTEEN LADIES CLUB The Oteen Ladies club met at the home of Mrs. S. M. Bittinger Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. with Mrs. Louis J. Ring, Mrs. R Wheeler, Mrs. E. H. Winterhoff, Mrs. J. H. Williams, and Mrs. P. Morgen stern as additional members of the committee. Mrs. Patricia Sneed and Mrs. J. R.
