Miss Illedge expects to spend the winter in New England. R ev. J. Moody McNair of Charleston, West Virginia, was the guest preacher Sunday morn ing in Gaither Chapel. The District Meeting of the Women of the Church of the Pres byterian Church, U. S. will convene in Gaither Chapel, October 18, at 10 a. m. Delegates are expected from the Presbyterian churches of Swannanoa, Black Mountain, I riendship, and Montreat. Among the prominent speakers will be Dr. J. Rupert McGregor, Dr. Carl W. Me Murray and the Rev. R. E. McClure. This will be an all-day meeting. The regular meeting of the Women of the Church will meet in Gaither Hall, October 19, at 4 p. m. Miss Lyde Wilson of Black Mountain will speak of her Home Mission work in Buncombe county. Boy Scout News Troop 47 met Tuesday, October 4 at 7 o’clock at the Methodist church in the Fellowship Room. We had a business meeting and then played games. We practiced drilling for the next Court of Honor at the City Auditorium in Asheville. We closed our meeting with the Indian Benediction. The following boys were present: John Buckner, Andy Cook, Gerald Burgess, Eugene Knoefel, Craig Cooley, and Andy Jumper. GEORGIA VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brown and son of Lawrenceville, Ga., left vesterady after a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brown, and his brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Beg ley. CALLED TO SALISBURY Mrs. W. W. White was called to Salisbury the week end of Oc tober 2, because ofthe illness of her mother, Mrs. J. R. Bickett. Mrs. White returned, as her moth er was admitted to a hospital and is somewhat improved. SEeT SMOKIES Miss Edna Ziegler, Mrs. Madelon Parks, Mrs. Alma Shaw, and her house guest, Mrs. Anna Ran dolph of Los Angeles, Calif., drove to the Smoky Mountain National park last Sunday. SURPRISE TRICKETTS Mr. and Mrs. Carl Trickett, Sr., of Prospect Park, Pa., Miss Dor othea Baldt of Ridley Park, Pa., and Miss Mary Tini of Morton, Pa., arrived Sunday to surprise Mr. and Mrs. Carl Trickett, Jr. They will be here for a week. CLUB MEETS TUESDAY The Swannanoa Book club will meet with Mrs. T. W. Folsom, Tuesday evening, October 19, at 8 o’clck. All members are urged to be present in order to make final plans for their benefit bridge party. MRS. PARSON HERE Mrs. Gail Pearson of Charlotte and Raleigh was the guest of Mrs. Annie H. Wallace and children, Sarah Ann and Richard Caswell, who moved here recently from Morganton, have taken the Grunwell home on Connelly St. Mr. Wallace is a civil engineer and was connected with the city of Morganton for eight years. VISITS HUSBAND Mrs. George Gudger spent the week end in Greenwood, S. C. with' her husband at the home of Sgt. Gudger’s aunt, Mrs. George Hol loway. VISIT SON Mrs. W. H. Lindsey has been visiting her son, Patrolman C. D. Lindsey and family in Sylva. While there she attended the Chero kee Indian Fair. VISITING HUNDLEYS Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Johnson of Nashville, Tenn. and Mrs. R. A. Gibbs of Greensboro, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. pundley, at “Sleepy Hollow Lodge.” VISIT HARDWICKS Mrs. George Gudger will leave today for Little Switzerland where she will visit the Perry Hardwicks.
