MitchoU, formerly super intendent of, the Charlotte graded schools, and which we reproduce for the benefit of Prof. Mitchell's Char lotte friend: "Last winter the Lee isiature of Alabama made an appro priation for holding a teachers insti tute in each Congressional district in the State. Dr. T. J. Mitchell, presi dent of the State Normal College, at Florence, was employed by State Superintendent Palmer to conduct them. This is tne second summer Dr. 'Mitchell Jhas been thus engaged in Alabama, and this time he has fafly set the State on fire with his en thusiasm . The newspapers are lav ish in their.praises of his work, and are anxious to have .him eive his whole time to it. The last of the series of district in stitutes W8S held at Troy. The result of an institute ."held there by Dr. Mitchell a year ago was the establish ment of their State Normal School and the organiz iti n of the public graaea scnoois. The people received him again with open arms, and turn ed out en masse to the exercise of the institute.
