Longw A Longwood man received a total sentence of 300 days in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges of assault on an officer, simple assault and damage to personal property in Brunswick County District Criminal Court iast week. Hoiiie Danie'is, 24, of Route i, Ixjngwoou, was charged Feb. 20 with two counts of simple assault, three counts of assault on an officer, two counts of damage to personal property, resisting arrest and trespassing. In court last week, one count of simple assault and trespassing was dismissed. Daniels pleaded guilty to the other charges while representing himself in court. Accordir? to Dot. Lindssv Walto^ who testified in the case, Daniels was charged with entering the Holden Beach Grocery Store, assaulting its operator, Eldridge Ludlum, and resisting arrest from Deputy Sgt. Donald Gates and Sgt. Jimmy Bryant. According to the arrest warrants, Daniels entered the store and assaulted Ludlum by "hitting him in the stomach with his fist." Daniels was also charged with damage to personal property for tearing merchandise "off the displays and throw_ ir.g it on the floor." the warrant ; stated. Sgt. Jolly sentenced Daniels to 30 days in jail for simple assault; 30 days for resisting arrest; 30 days for damage to personal property; 60 days for assault on an officer; 60 days for a second count of assault on an officer; 30 days for damage to personal property and 60 days for a third assault on an officer charge.
