Page 6-A?THE BRUNSWICK BEACO Hospice i/ower Cape Fear Hospice is offering a series of educational workshops in Shallotte for anyone interested in learning more about the program or becoming a hospice volunteer. The first workshop in the series will be held Thursday, March 21, from 10 a.m. until noon at Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte. Trained hospice volunteers spend two to three hours a week with terminally ill patients and their families, offering emotional support, helping with traasportation, grocery shopping and other needs. Hospice is a concept of care, a program that seeks to ease the pain and treat the symptoms of patients who have a limited time left to live. Hospice volunteers enable the patient to spend as much of that time as possible at home in comfort, and help the patient's family cope with the illness and subsequent death. Lower Cape Fear Hospice serves Outstandir Grace M. Keziah, a guidance counselor at West Brunswick High School. The 1985 recipient will be announced in April.
