In early December it was the Wolfpack falling short to Forest Hills, 13-6 for the state football title, last week in Greeasboro it was the same Wolfpack (comprised mostly i from the runnerup football squad) again coming up short to Cherryville, i 82-75, for the state 2-A basketball ti- I tie. Both West Columbus and Whiteville, preseason favorites in their respective TRC and EWC leagues, won conference openers last week.
