Service Draws Crowd
Attendance at early-morning Easter services at Ocean Isle Reach reached a
new level Sunday, including this group seated beneath the cross. An
estimated 2,500 to 3,000 persons participated In the service, indicated Mrs.
Dan Norman, whose husband, the minister of Shallotte Prcsyterian Church,
led the service. I/OW winds und wurm sunshine provided the best weather for
the event In recent years.

Aid Workshops
Brunswick Technical College
Financial Aid Officer Kenneth
Hewett plans to hold several
workshops at area high schools.
The sessions will h*lp prospective
college students in applying for
financial add to offset college expenses.
He and Bertha Bell, senior
guidance counselor, will help West
Brunswick High School students at
the high school library from 6 p.m. to
8 p.m. Thursday, April 18. They will
be available to help complete applications
and to discuss financial aid
matters with students and parents.
A similar workshop is planned at
South Brunswick High May 1 from 10
a.m. to 12 noon and at North
Brunswick High School from 10 a.m.
to 12 noon May 2.
High school students interested in
entering college next fall who would
like financial assistance are invited
to attend the sessions along with their
parents, said Hewett.
Union School
Plans Festival
Union Primary School will hold its
first May Day Spring Fling and arts
and crafts sale Saturday, May 4, at
the school.
The school will rent 10-foot by
10-foot booths to display arts and
crafts for sale on the school grounds
for $10. A rain date for the festival is
May 11.
A carnival for the students will also
be a part of the festival activities
from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., said Assistant
Principal Diana Mintz. Arts and
crafts booths will be open from 9 a.in.
to 5 p.m.
Anyone interested in renting space
for the arts and crafts saie should
contact Ms. Mintz at Union Primary
School, 579-3591. Proceeds from the
Spring Fling, sponsored by the school
PTO organization, will be used for
the school.

steps have already been completed on the east end of the beach at Avenues B
and C, said Town Manager Bob Buck. Steps and walkways are also open at
Colonial Acres and Harbor Acres on the west end. Within weeks, a walkway
and steps should be added at Avenue E and steps should be available at
Avenue D and Ferry Road on the east end, completing the town's project in
coordination with the N.C. Coastal Management Program, Buck said.
