The bride wore a full-length gown of ivory and carried a Bible with orHospice Workshops To Resume l/m-er Cnno Fear Hospice continues its series of educational workshops in Shailotte with a session Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. until noon at Camp United Methodist Church in Shailotte. The workshops are designed for anyone Interested in learning about the program or becoming a Hospice volunteer. Such topics as the hospice concept, frustrations fuced by patients and families, views on death and dying, basics of bedside care and funeral planning arc covered. Trained hospice volunteers spend several hours each week with terminally ill patients and their families, offering emotional support and helping with practical needs. Volunteers with professional skills provide patients and families with their help within areas of their expertise in such matters as nursing, legal and accounting matters, insurance, social work and clergy support. These volunteers, according to a news release from l-ower Capo Fear Hospice, enable terminally ill patients to spend as much of their remaining time as possible at home in comfort, and help the patient's family cope with the illness and subsequent death. Club Wins State Ribbons Three students and one Stiallotte Junior Woman's Club member brought home two blue, one red and two white ribbons from the State Arts Festival sponsored by the N.C. Federation of Women's Clubs. The festival was held March 28-29 in Winston-Salem. Tom McMullen won first place in decorative painting on fabric, receiving a $50 cash prize and blue ribbon. Clubwoman Peggy Truesdale placed first in weaving. Keith White placed third in papercraft and second in wood craft, while Joseph Sapps placed third in fabric craft.
