Each year, the Special Olympics program is coordinated for students in classes for the physically handicapped or with learning disabilities. In the opening ceremonies, students from all schools marched around the football field at South Brunswick High School to music provided by the S8HS marching band. Students competed in the 400-meter relays and other track events, the Softball throw, standing long jump and other special events. Ribbons were awarded to each student participating in the events. Students taking a break from the SCuVity WCTC Cute rtaiiiCii tO TulTuC presentations by Nate Freeman and to storytelling by Joyce Greer of the Wilmington Parks and Recreation Department. Special events for the program were coordinated by Tina Pritchard of the Brunswick County Parks and Recreation Department. Tina Sims, Miss Brunswick Technical College, presented the Special Olympic Oath prior to the opening of the games. The Special Olympic program is prepared by a committee composed of ten representatives. In addition to Ms. Vereen, serving on the commit- I tee are Rick Zuffa, of the Carolina r J.M.
