summer for both men and women as
evidenced by the crowd that
gathered Saturday at the Shallotte
Junior Woman's Club's annual spring
fashion show.

Shallotte Middle School cafeteria.

Proceeds from the show are used by
the woman's club for community projects.
Titled "Fashions By The Sea," the
program previewed the typical summer's
wardrobe including
swimwear, nightgowns, active
clothing and dresses just right for living
along the coast. With
temperatures rising into the 90s
Saturday, it was the perfect day for
viewing summer's new fashions.
For the kids, muscle shirts are a
must along with tropical swimming
trunks and sun shades. Matching accessories
include plastic, waterproof
tubes that are tied around the neck to

members toured Hobcaw-Barony
Plantation on Winyah Bay, south of
Georgetown, S.C., for their April 10
meeting, reports Patricia Brosius,
publicity chairman.
The plantation's Hoocaw House
was the winter home of Bernard
Baruch. The plantation was also the
site of Bellefield, owned by his
daughter, Belle Baruch. She created
the foundation that operates the plantation
and was the subject of a
20-rninute videotape. "Belle's
legacy," Viewed by club members.

The group also visited Fricndfield,
the only remaining "slave street" on
the Waccamaw Neck, lunched in
Georgetown, and stopped at All
Saint's Church at Pawley's Island
and The Hermitage at Murrell's Inlet.
From the boardwalk trail
through Cypress Swamp, uiey saw
deer, an alligator and woodpeckers.
