Enjoyable Weekend
Shopping and visiting in Burlington
and Greensboro, the weekend was an
enjoyable one for Mr. and Mrs.
Ilavon Gore and children, Haven and
Jerrcll. They visited newly-weds,
Mr. and Mrs. I-co Gore, their
daughter Taniedra, and Mr. and Ms.
Conrad Bryant. They were delighted
to have their mother, Mattie Uine
ilewett, along on the trip.
Surprise, Surprise!
The Eastern Star sisters of
Macedonia in Supply were spoasors
of a surprise birthday party for Mrs.
Ixmlsc Simmoas. On hand to make
the tasty menu a delight were sisters
Dorothy llankins, Ola Erlnk, I.izzie
Mitchell and Dorothy Gore. Mrs.
Simmons expressed her love in
"many thanks, and I really, really
was surprised."

had a Yardville, New Jersey speaker
for their Woman's Day Program.
Mrs. Helen T. Smith, dnuuhtcr of

speaker. Sister Dresser Fanner was

Institute Completed
The I.ittle Macedonia Baptist
Church of Supply held its annual institute
April 29-May 3. Miss Odell
Hankins served as president.
The textbook studied was "The
Doctrine of the Holy Spirit." Many
scriptures from the Bible were also
discussed.
Mrs. Tressie Gore was secretary of
the class and Mrs. Cora Mae Frink
was book agent. Attendance was
very good at the session, taught by
Sister Annie K. Bryant. Mrs. Gracie
Greene was in charge of the youth.
Seventeen had perfect attendance.
Students from sister churches were
in attendance, including St. James
and Big Macedonia.
Tile session closed Friday night on
a high note with a sermon by Rev
Raymon Smith, assisted by Rev.
John Smith and the Utile Macedonia
Young Adult Choir.

Mary A. Sparrow of Southport, 72,
died May 1 at her home.
The funeral was held Sunday at St.
John's Missionary Baptist Church at
Kniivia, wun nev. a. r uuwooa 01ficiating.
Burial was in the Johnson
Cemetery, Bolivia.
Mrs. Sparrow was born on Dec. 21,
1912, in Bolivia. She was the daughter
of the late Edward S. and Annie L.
Sparrow.
Survivors include three daughters,
Mrs. Thelma G. McKoy and Mrs. Edna
Thames, both of Wilmington, and
Mrs. Annie D. Beatty of
Wrightsboro; three sons, John H.
Sparrow of Wrightsboro, Alvin Sparrow
of Durham and David W. Sparrow

Brunswick County ministers have
been invited to join in a declaration of
support for soil stewardship Friday,
May 10, at the Brunswick County
Government Center.
The meeting, sponsored by the
Brunswick Soil and Water Conserve

79, of Surfside Beach, died Monday at
her home following a lengthy illness.
The funeral was held Tuesday at
Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with

was in the Bennett Cemetery near
Hickman's Crossroads.
