She added, "Then it starts to itch." So why get your face painted? "To show off," Donnie Lee Milligan was quick to say as art teacher Carol Norfolk put the finishing touches on his face art, a Tar Heel patch. The boys darte. Getting a 50e face Job was a must for most students last Thursday night at Waccamaw Elementary School's "Spring Fling," a community event and fundraising effort co-sponsored by the school and its parent-teacher t group. Booths were arrayed along the U-shapc of the buildings, most ac- I cessible from the sidewalk overhanu I outside. A steady drizzle took some of the sizzle out of water gun fights in the courtyard. Inside the cafeteria, fairgoers munched on pork barbecue and hotdog.s washed down with Pepsi and Juices. ilain didn't bother Patrick Hughes, whose head was protected by an umbrella hat as he waged war with a plastic, water-filled gun. The annual fair included u country store with canned goods, crafts and flea nuirkct items for sale, a bingo hall, cake walk and a variety of games and activities ranging from a duck pond to a hoop shoot.
