Zion Missionary Baptist Church in I,ongwood at 7:30 p.m. Happy Mother's Day Mother's Day was a happy one for many people, with visits, trips, programs and other activities. Mrs. Nancy Vereeen, mother Sally and husband, Allen, were weekend guests in the home of her cousin, Willie Tucker. A call to the ministry for her cousin was the highlight of their trip. Breakfast Honors Mothers The men of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivia, where Rev. A. W. Kullwood is pastor, fixed breakfast for all members to honor the mothers at their church. The men furnished the music, served breakfast, pinned on carnations and introduced the speaker. Your truly delivered the morning speech, "A Tribute to Mothers," St. Matthew, Chapter, 26, St. John 21:14-16. Visitors from other states present for the breakfast were Kobert Payton, brother of Mrs. Gloria Bryant, New York; Mildred Staton and Ada Bostlck, Maryland; Audrey Bryant and Muudrvy Maury, Connecticut; and Hev. Jones, 57, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, May 7, in Dosher Memorial Hospital, Southport, following a brief illness. The funeral was held Thursday at Ocean View United Methodist Church, with Rev. Roger Thompson officiating. Burial was in Brunswick Memorial Gardens in Shallotte. Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Hazelhurst, Ga., he was the son of Gettie 0. and Dora White Jones of Long Beach. He was a member and past lay leader of Ocean View United Methodist Church at Vaupon Beach. Jones had retired from the U.S. Navy and also had retired as an owner and operator of Jones Seafood Restaurant at Long Beach. He was a member of Oak Island Moose Lodge No. 2059, where he earned a fellowship degree and served as the lodge's lirst governor. Survivors in addition to parents include his wife, Mrs. Louise Wilson Jones of the home; two daughters, Yvonne White and siieiia Martin, both of I-ong Beach; four brothers, Edward Jones, Ray Jones, Javis Jones and Larry Jones, all of Long Beach; three sisters, Mrs. Naomi Hewctt of Carrboro, Mrs. Etta Mae Stanley of Pennsville, N.J., and Mrs. Jeanette Roach of lx>ng Beach; and a granddaughter, Miss Candice White.
