Two Brunswick County churches
will welcome new ministers Thursday,
June 13, moving day for approximately
140 pastors appointed to new
' hanipit in thn North Cnroiinn Con
ference of the United Methodist
Church.
The appointments were announced
during the annual conference, which
ends today (Thursday) at Methodist
College in Fayetteville.
Itev. L.M. "Billy" Peele Jr. will
move to Zion United Methodist
Church at Town Creek, succeeding
Rev. Pearl West, who has been
assigned to Eureka-Yelverton in the

Aglow Hears
A Bible teacher from Williams ton,
Bea Carson, will speak at the next
regular meeting of the Shallottc
Women's Aglow Fellowship, Saturday,
June 8, at 10 a.m. at Jane's
Seafood Restaurant on Holden Beach
Road.
All interested women are invited to
come at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and
fellowship, said Pamela Moon, corresponding
secretary.

Visiting pastor Dr. Robert F. Bardin,

in Iceland, will join Wesleyan United

pastor of Westview United Methodist
Church.

67, of Southport, died Monday, May
27, in Dosher Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was held Thursday at
Southport Presbyterian Church with
Rev. Frank Elliott officiating. Burial
was in the Old Southport Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife,
Kathleen Webb of the home; a son,
William D. (Plukie) Webb of
Shallotte; two daughters, Ms.
Claudia Webb of Jacksonville, Fla.,
and Mrs. Pam Maggard of
Southport; a brother, Bernie Webb of
Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Joyce
Pierce of High Point; a granddaughter,

Eula Adeline White Roper, 77, of
inland, died Wednesday, May 29, in
Onslow Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville.
The funeral was held Friday at
Jones Funeral Home Chapel,
Jacksonville, with burial in the
Nelson Cemetery, Iceland. Rev. Hartwell
Condrey conducted the service.
She was a retired clerk, formerly
employed at New Hanover Memorial
Hospital.

30 at the V.A. Medical Center in
Salisbury after a lengthy illness.

Burial was in Carolina Memorial
Hark, Kannapolis.
Born July 18, 1908, in Alexander
County, he was the son of the late
Solomon Barnett and the late Pedia
Hendren Barnett. He was a U.S. Army

Houston, Texas, and formerly of
Brunswick County, died Monday,
May 28, in Houston following an extended
illness.
A graveside service was held Friday
in Northwood Cemetery,
Southport, with Rev. John Elder officiating.
Mrs. Snipes was born on Aug. 29,
1938, in Sturgeon, Wis., and was the
daughter of the late William C. and
Nora Cassidy Kinca'de.
Survivors include her husband,
Harold R. Snipes of the home; a
daughter, Mrs. Jeanine LuAn
Desilets of Spring, Texas; a brother,
Russell C. Kincaide of Leng Beach; a

Otis E. (Toby) Thomas, 70, of
Route 1, Supply, died Sunday, June 2,
in the Brunswick Hospital following
an extended illness.
A memorial service was held Tuesday
in the chapel of Coble WardSmith
Funeral Service at Supply,
with Brother Henry Hardee officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family
has requested that memorials be
made to the American Cancer Socie
ty.
Thomas was born in Piedmont,
S.C., on May 25, 1915, the son of the
late John William and Ella Mae
Snider Thomas. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Army Air Corns and
operator of the Holden Beach Motel
and Campground.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Patsy Ann Boles Thomas of the
home; a son, Gary Wayne Thomas of
High Point; a daughter, Brenda Sue
Thomas of High Point; two stepsons,
