JOSEPH D. HILL
Joseph Debner Hill, 74, of Carolina
Beach, died Thursday, June 20, in
New Hanover Memorial Hospital,
Wilmington, following a brief illness.
The funeral was held Saturday in

Chapel in Wilmington, with Rev.
Gerald R. Massey officiating. Burial
was in Thomasville.
I Hill was bor in Davidson County on
Sept. 16,1910, the son of Columbus A.
and Mary Everhart Hill.
A resident of Carolina Beach since
1953, he was a representative 'for
I Shaw-Barton Inc. of Coshocton, Ohio,
until his recent retirement.
^ He was a member of St. Paul's
United Methodist Church and
Federal Point Lodge No. 753, AF &
AM.
Survivors include his wife. Mi's.
Rachel Deaton Hill of Carolina
Beach; two sons, Joel David Hill of
I Raleigh and John Allen Hill of Holden
Beach; a brother, Lawrence W. Hill
of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle
Hill Bryant of Thomasville; and five
grandchildren, including Maggie,
Scott and Corbie Hill of Holden
Beach.

Lottie Skipper Allen of Southport
died Monday, June 17, at her
residence.
The funeral was held Thursday in
the chapel of Andrews Mortuary,
with Rev. Odell Blanton and Rev.
L.J. Benton officiating. Burial was in
Farmers Chape! Cemetery.

March 24,1915, Sellers was the son of
the late Brady R. and Ernestine
Dosher Sellers. He was a retired
carpenter and a member of Supply
Baptist Church.
He also was a member of Shallotte
Masonic Lodge No. 727, AF & AM,
with membership in the Scottish
Rites Bodies, the Sudan Temple and
the Brunswick County Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Thelma Singletary Sellers of the
home; two sons, Gene Sellers of Supply
and M.L. Sellers of lakeland,
Fla.; a brother, Bennie U. Sellers of
Leland; four sisters, Miss Pauline
Sellers, Mrs. Eliza Nance and Mrs.
Dorothy Hewett, all of Supply, and
Mrs. Frances Russ of Shallotte; and
three grandchildren.

Georgia Eliza Mohn, 91. of
Brunswick Village, Shallotte, died
Sunday in the Brunswick Hospital,
Supply.
The funeral was to be held Thursday
in Rochester, N.Y.

Daniel Millard Rabon, 52, of Route
2, I aland, died Wednesday at is
residence after a lengthy illness.
The funeral was held Friday in
Zion United Methodist Church, with
Rev. Pearl West and Rev. Jan Smook
officiating. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Rabon was bom in Brunswick
County on Oct. 21,1933, the son of the
late Frank C. and Cora Flowers
Rabon. He had been employed with
Babcock and Wilcox and was a U.S.
Army veteran. He was a member of
Zion United Methodist Church and a
charter member of the Town Creek

Zettlemoyer was born in Pine
Grove, Pa., on April 25,1934, and was
the son of the late Ferdinand and
Cora DeWalt Zettlemoyer. He was a
retired U.S. Air Force sergeant.
Prior to his illness he was employed
by the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Hallie Galloway Zettlemoyer of the
home; a son, Eric Zettlemoyer of
Supply; a daughter, Mrs. Deborah Z.
Knight of Summerville, S.C.; two
grandchildren, Stephanie and Jeffery;
three brothers, Glenn Zettlemoyer
and Milton Becker, both of
Pine Grove, Pa., and Harry' Becker

1, Wilmington, died Wednesday at
her residence.
A graveside service was held Friday
in Old Southport Cemetery, with
Rev. Francis Bradshaw officiating.
Born in Brunswick County on April
14, 1900, she was the daughter of the
late John J. and Minnie Drew Knox.
She was the widow of Edward
Cranmer Newton.
Mrs. Newton was a member of
Trinity United Methodist Church in
Southport.
Survivors include four sons, Edward
Cranmer Newton of Birmingham,
Ala., I,ouis Knox Newton,
John Richard Newton and Jackson
R. Newton, all of Wilmington; a
daughter, Mrs. Ann Brooks Preik of
Wilmington; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude

Mrs. Carrie Drew Fulcher of
Southport, and Mrs. Ethel Goldston

James Mark Tolliver, 32, of Stone
Chimney Roau. Supply, died Tuesday
evening, June 18, at his residence as
the result of a shooting incident.
A private funeral service was held
Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family
asked that memorials be made to a
charity of the giver's choice.
Tolliver was born in Frederick,
Md., and was the son of French Earl
Tolliver and Jaunita Artrip Evans.
Survivors in addition to his parents
include his daughter, Miss Jamie
Lynn Tolliver of Shallotte; two

Tackles Litter
As part of a countywide anti-litter
campaign, a group of Carolina
Shores residents recently decided to
launch their own neighborhood cleanup
campaign.
Thirty residents, equipped with
large plastic bags, gloves and
pointed sticks, picked up litter on
both sides of Country Club Drive
trom U.S. 1/ to m.C. us. ine drive
bisects the community.
Participant Grayce Farley said the
litter consisted mainly of drink containers?cans
and bottles?, food and
cigarette wrappings.
"If residents and visitors would
stop and think before discarding
their litter on the highways," she added,
"they would realize how much
improvement there would be to the
area.
"l-ct's all pitch in to keep our county
clean and beautiful," she added.
Cemetery Cleaning
Day Is Planned
A work day is planned Saturday,
June 29, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the
Griffin Cemetery on S.K. 1332 in Ash.
Spokesman Doris Gore asked tliat
those with relatives or friends buried
in the cemetery join in the clean-up,
bringing lawnmowers and rakes.
